Hitachinaka Happenings

Greetings from Japan. We will soon begin our 30th year in Japan, and while we have learned some things about ourselves, and the Japanese we “came to save” (ha ha), the most important lessons we have learned revolve around the power of “extraordinary prayer”. We want to continue praying and look for God’s answers, and we want you to pray for Japan in such a way that we are able to report God is moving in the lives of people…

Christmas Greetings from Japan

Merry Christmas 2022!  We are excited that Julia (23) will be coming “home” to Japan for Christmas! Our annual Zoom Christmas celebration will have Grady and Britt joining from Manila and Tess and Jacob visiting family in Chicago (they live in Toronto). We want to say thank you to all who have been praying and supporting us financially! God continues to meet our every need and surprise us! We just found out today that of one of our long-term supporting…

Flemings in Japan

Autumn 2022 Hello to all of our faithful prayer and financial supporters! This year marks 30 years since we were appointed with Fellowship International! We are grateful to have been able to visit Ontario this past summer. We were able to connect with a number of churches and individuals, but our time was mostly about visiting family. We enjoyed time with Tess and Jacob currently living in Toronto and vacationing with Julia (final year of university). Spending time with aging…

Hitachinaka Happenings

Merry Christmas from Hitachinaka, Japan! As the world approaches a second “Covid Christmas”, we, like most people, will make adjustments. Our family Christmas celebration will definitely have a Zoom flavour this year. Tess and Jacob are in Toronto, Grady and Britt are teaching MKs in Manila. Kathryn and I are in Japan, but Kathryn will return to Canada briefly to visit her parents and siblings, and help Julia move from a work term in Toronto to a study term in…
Greetings from Kathryn & Rob, A big “Thank you” to those who keep us here in Japan through your praying, and financial giving. Japanese sometimes ask us how long we have been in Japan, and Kathryn rounds down by saying, “More than a quarter century”. Sounds kind of long that way. Living in Japan we miss our kids, but are enjoying regular Zoom times with them. Tess and Jacob are in Toronto, Julia is on a Coop work term in…

They are on their Way!

Greetings again from Hitachinaka City in Northern Japan! The “Kathryn and Julia return to Japan” saga seems to be coming to an end. They both got their negative COVID tests back in plenty of time (this time) and will fly from Toronto Wednesday afternoon. PTL Julia will continue to study on-line “at” U of Waterloo, and Kathryn and I will ask God for some fruit! We have lived here previously, and already know some folks who might be interested in…

Rob and Kathryn Fleming Update

Our return to Japan was planned for early May (Now!), but with a state of emergency declared by the Japanese Government until May 31, it seems best to continue “sheltering in place” here in Waterloo until international travel is deemed safe by both Canadian and Japanese authorities. We are encouraged to have been able to be a part of Grady and Brittany’s Zoom wedding in April and have been able to add an extra month to our apartment lease here…

Fleming March Updates

Rob & Kathryn It has only been two weeks since our previous update (see below), but with current events wreaking havoc with all of our well-laid plans, we thought a quick update would be helpful. Quite a few have asked us how Covid-19 is affecting our plan to return to Japan at the end of April. Of course, just like everyone, we are dealing with a brand new, anxious reality. New prayer requests: 1. Our return to Japan will be…

Update from Rob and Kathryn Fleming

Greetings today from Rob and Kathryn.Just another day for most of us…March 11.8 years ago, our lives were changed, as were many lives in northeastern Japan. Our life was literally turned upside down.Today Kathryn remembered a devotional she read hours before the triple disaster hit our neighbourhood. She read this at about 8 AM on 3/11. Our lives changed at 2:46 PM, that same day. Many have said that Japanese have become more spiritually sensitive, and many have come to Christ because…
