Paul Family Update

US. Hello everyone, and I apologize for the delay with the updates. My initial plan was to release this at the beginning of October, but that did not happen. I thought we could kick off this newsletter with an update on us. Oliver’s minor surgery went well, so thanks for all the prayers. He is now 4 years old and is starting school in January. He attended his induction class last week, and it went really well. Despite telling us…

Hitachinaka Happenings

Greetings from Hitachinaka, Japan. After a four-month Home Assignment in Ontario, returning “home” feels good. We dreaded a summer of weeds in the backyard and our garden on the edge of the subdivision, but our neighbour took it upon himself to do some spraying for us. We were sad to leave elderly parents, daughters Julia and Tess and her husband Jacob, as well as, new grandbaby Raphael Amos Winter, born September 13 in Toronto. Tess and Jacob live close to…

Welcome Mia Fleming!

We are thrilled to introduce Mia Joy Fleming to you all. Mia was born on October 6, 2023 at 3:13am, weighing 2.75kg / 6lbs 1oz.  Fun fact! Mia is a name in English, French, and Japanese, and Filipino people pronounce it the same way as Canadians would! The Japanese characters that we have chosen for her name, 美愛, mean “beautiful love.” It’s special that she has a name in the languages that we speak 🙂  Thank you everyone for your love, support, and…

Hitachinaka Happenings

We are thankful for your prayers in response to our letter in April. It was a smooth transition from Japan to Waterloo. Rob`s back is much better. Tess and Jacob’s baby is due this September in Toronto, and we also are happy to announce Grady and Brittany will follow suit in October, with that birth being in Manila, Philippines. Julia, our youngest, calls the two growing babies “Thing 1 & Thing 2”, from the Cat in the Hat. We are…

Flemings in the Philippines!

Praise God for a great end to the school year. It’s so fun to reflect on this past year and think of all the experiences had, lessons learned, and relationships built at Faith. Here are some of our highlights from the last quarter of the semester: Baptisms By God’s grace, 7 high school students chose to publicly declare their repentance, faith, and obedience to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was such a privilege to watch their baptisms, and…

This Pilgrim’s Progress…

(Please be sure to read  BIG CHANGES section!) INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP GROUP Lunch & Lounge It’s been a wonderful year of working with my friend Carmen who is the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Calgary to provide lunch and sometimes more to busy, hungry students each Monday throughout the year.  Many came with friends, talked amongst themselves, and left satisfied. Others asked us about ourselves, the churches we attend, the things we believe (Carmen’s collar helped!). It was precious partnership…

Flemings in the Philippines!

Dear family and friends,  We have exciting news to share 🙂   Baby Fleming is on the way! We are so thankful that God has entrusted us with the gift of being parents and for all the ways that the Lord has provided for us already. Our Doctor Through referrals from other missionaries who have given birth in the Philippines, we have found a doctor who is an excellent fit for us, whom we trust, and feel comfortable with. In the Philippines,…

Hitachinaka Happenings

Thank you to those who offered a car to make the crisscrossing of Ontario enjoyable. We have decided on a gently used “veteran” Hyundai currently parked in Thunder Bay. We will fly to Thunder Bay, visit Westfort Baptist, and enjoy the Lake Superior North Shore drive back to Southern Ontario. So fun! Praying to avoid hitting a moose! We asked for prayer for a car, as it can be difficult finding something for 4 months, but we had enough car…

JACOB, LEIDY & OLIVER

SPRING UPDATE APRIL 2023 HAPPY EASTER!Our spring update is here and we wanted to get this out before the holiday weekend because the week after Holy week here seems to always get really busy. Here is a little snapshot of what has been going on in our lives: El NidoThe program has been running smoothly, but we were hoping to get another Rotary grant to be able to continue with the check-ups for another 6 months and it looks like…

Flemings in Japan

We have a special update, that hopefully will catch your attention before this weekend. Sometimes prayer needs develop quickly! Mr. Muroga, a Japanese mechanic who keeps our old car here in Japan on the road became a Christian about 3 years ago. His 82-year-old mom will get baptized this Easter Sunday in nearby Mito church. He led her to the Lord! Rob will preach from Luke 24 about Jesus` unusual encounter with the two disciples escaping to Emmaus. Please pray…
