Hitachinaka Happenings

Hitachinaka Happenings

We are thankful for your prayers in response to our letter in April. It was a smooth transition from Japan to Waterloo. Rob`s back is much better. Tess and Jacob’s baby is due this September in Toronto, and we also are happy to announce Grady and Brittany will follow suit in October, with that birth being in Manila, Philippines. Julia, our youngest, calls the two growing babies “Thing 1 & Thing 2”, from the Cat in the Hat.

We are about 1/3 the way through our Summer Home Assignment. We will be able to visit 18 of our 22 supporting churches and hopefully most of the 25 individuals who support us as well. We are so thankful for those who are able to participate in God’s work in Japan through prayer. You can see our travel plans for the summer below, so please do let us know if you are able to get together between now and the end of September.

What a Day that will be! No more cold nights—in fact, no more nights! The Day is coming—the timing is God’s—when it will be continuous day. Every evening will be a fresh morning. What a Day that will be! Fresh flowing rivers out of Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea, half to the western sea, flowing year-round, summer and winter! God will be king over all the earth, one God and only one. What a Day that will be! Zechariah 4:7-9         The Message

Could we ask you to pray for a few things while we are in Canada?

  1. Pray for safety as we travel. Seven years ago, Rob hit a moose near Timmins. We don`t remember if we had asked you to pray for our safety on the highways crisscrossing Ontario back then. If we didn`t, we should have!
  2. Pray that our words about what God is doing in Japan would motivate people to pray more for the Japanese. We are enjoying Sunday services with our supporting churches, but also going into more detail with smaller groups as opportunity presents itself. Feel free to ask.
  3. We are very thankful that God has graciously met our every need for nearly 30 years in Japan through so many of you. Recently some of our supporters have retired, and some have passed on to be with Jesus. This has resulted in decreased donations, and a shortfall in our financial support. We are short $800/month in our overall monthly budget. This has resulted in a $12,000 deficit in our overall account with Fellowship International. Pray that this would be made before we return to Japan in October through new supporters, special donations, and by increases from current supporters. We have included a link here if you feel the Holy Spirit moving you to help out with this. (Click on The Fellowship logo below)

Gratefully,

Rob and Kathryn
