Baptism and Membership

Baptism

What is baptism? Baptism is a powerful proclamation of what Christ has done in a believer’s life.  It is a personal, visual, and symbolic declaration to others and ourselves that we are followers of Jesus Christ.  It represents the act of faith and testimony that one has been united with Christ in His death and resurrection.

Baptism is an ordinance (an order) given by Jesus Christ to all His followers. By being baptized a Christian declares and celebrates the salvation they have received through faith in Jesus Christ.  Genuine faith produces an obedient heart that will, in turn, lead to one’s desire to be baptized.

Membership

What is Church Membership?

Church Membership is a Christian’s personal commitment to identify with a local church.  Membership is a statement of agreement with the purpose and mission of the church, as well as participating in the life of the church for mutual caring, spiritual growth, and accountability.
