Britt & Grady Fleming

Thank you all for your support and prayers these past few months! God has been incredibly faithful and has provided for us as we have been transitioning to life in the Philippines and learning to be teachers. There are a whole host of things that we would love to share with you, so we are going to split our update up into two newsletters. This newsletter will be more of a life update, and we will send out an update…

Hitachinaka Happenings

Merry Christmas from Hitachinaka, Japan! As the world approaches a second “Covid Christmas”, we, like most people, will make adjustments. Our family Christmas celebration will definitely have a Zoom flavour this year. Tess and Jacob are in Toronto, Grady and Britt are teaching MKs in Manila. Kathryn and I are in Japan, but Kathryn will return to Canada briefly to visit her parents and siblings, and help Julia move from a work term in Toronto to a study term in…

This Pilgrim’s Progress…

This Pilgrim’s Progress… As we gathered last week as a staff team and spent time in this passage, I was left with several questions to ponder. Among them, what does good shepherding of non-believers look like? And what TRULY motivates me as I work with students–is it a crown of glory from the Chief Shepherd, or something else? These are hard but good questions to be asking as we enter a new year that is in many ways more uncertain…
Greetings from Kathryn & Rob, A big “Thank you” to those who keep us here in Japan through your praying, and financial giving. Japanese sometimes ask us how long we have been in Japan, and Kathryn rounds down by saying, “More than a quarter century”. Sounds kind of long that way. Living in Japan we miss our kids, but are enjoying regular Zoom times with them. Tess and Jacob are in Toronto, Julia is on a Coop work term in…

Entry Exemption Documents Are In and Another Call to Prayer

Hey everyone! Thank you all SO much for joining us in prayer about our travel ban exemption. We are excited to share that we, along with 40 other incoming Faith Academy staff, received our entry exemption document (EED) from the Filipino Department of Foreign Affairs. Praise God! We are so grateful for your prayers, and for the visa team at Faith Academy that worked tirelessly to obtain the exemption document. The EED granted us permission to apply for our visas,…

Flemings to the Philippines!

Hey everyone! We have two quick updates to share with you all!  The first thing is that we are fully vaccinated! Praise God! We were not going to be able to travel to the Philippines until we received both doses, and so we are grateful that Canada’s COVID-19 vaccine supply increased in recent weeks.  The second thing is an invitation to pray for our departure date. At this time, there is a travel ban for inbound foreigners to the Philippines.…

Hitachinaka Happenings

June 2021 Greetings to all of our faithful prayer and financial supporters. We want to start by expressing our thanks. Despite a continuing Ontario Covid-19 lockdown that has prevented most of you from meeting regularly as churches, we have sensed an increased interest in praying for Japan. While many churches and mission groups are struggling financially, we praise God for his steady provision. A few have had to cut back, but others have filled that gap. So, we are so thankful…
