Flemings in the Philippines!
Semester 1 Recap: Coaching We are filled with joy as we reflect on semester 1 of the ‘24-’25 school year. Grady’s volleyball team finished 2nd at their ACSC tournament in Indonesia, while Brittany’s swim team also finished 2nd at their ACSC swim meet in Hong Kong. We are so blessed to be able to build into the children of missionaries on these sports teams. Teaching Classes have also been going well. Grady is enjoying teaching Questions in Church History for…

Christmas Greetings from Japan! 2024 has been a little different for us. We said goodbye to our remaining three parents this year: Kath’s dad in February, Kath’s mom in July, and Rob’s mom, who died in mid-November. Rob is thankful he went home to Timmins for a week this past August. Apart from fishing and picking wild blueberries with Timmins friends, the week was mostly spent eating those fish and blueberries with mom! Now we are the grandparents and are…

Greetings from Japan. We do not often get to begin a prayer letter by quoting a Discovery Bible Study friend of Kathryn’s professing, “I am a child of God” but we can this time. Mrs. Y, after 3 years of Bible with Kath says “My problems are all the same, but the way I deal with them has changed because of Jesus”. Praise God for this work in her life.A common question we field here is “Why are you do…

Our school theme this year is “Live the Story, Tell the Story” based on 1 Peter 3:15, which says “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” We have had a few different opportunities to Tell the Story this year while we Live the Story. High School Retreat At Faith Academy’s high…

Sitting here in our home in Manila, we think back to our time in Canada and feel overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude to God and to all of you. Three of our main goals for our time in Canada were to rest, to reconnect with friends and family, and to raise prayer and financial partners. Upon reflection, we feel like God provided abundantly in these areas and we are so thankful! Praise God for such a lifegiving season in Canada.…

Greetings from Japan. Spring is when we plant those veggie seeds. We did that in March (Sorry, Canada!) and now we are enjoying watching everything grow. Weeding with anticipation of the harvest soon to be on the table. We are especially thankful for the beets we grow but cannot find in the grocery store! What a great reminder to us to continue to be part of what God is doing here in Japan. God is the true Gardener and Jesus…
Flemings in the Philippines!
Hi family and friends! We hope you are doing well 🙂 Since mid-January, we have been living in Waterloo, ON., and we wanted to share an update about the first bit of our time back in Canada. In our previous newsletter, we mentioned that we had three main goals during our time in Canada: to rest, to reconnect with friends and family, and to raise prayer and financial partners. Here is a little bit about how that has been going!…

Flemings in the Philippines!
Please Pray! Hello friends and family, We were in the midst of packing and getting ready for our home assignment last week when some visa and passport issues were brought to our attention. These things might affect when we can come to Canada. Please pray that everything would be resolved. Our desire is to fly back to Canada on our original departure date of January 15th, but if things don’t get worked out by then and we need to delay our departure,…

We are unshaken in Japan! Japan has made the news again, and the latest earthquake has resulted in this sooner-than-intended prayer update. We live on the east coast of Honshu, 300 km from the epicenter of the Japan earthquake that you likely saw on the news. It was bad, but we experienced only a long rocking sensation (think being in a canoe), which indicated a really big earthquake not so nearby. This time, it was not under our house. Thanks…

Dear family and friends, We hope you are doing well! As we near the end of 2023, we wanted to share about how the school semester has gone, and include a financial update. Coaching It feels like we are having more and more fun coaching with each year that passes! Coming out of COVID, many kids hadn’t had many opportunities to be active, so during our first few years of coaching, a big focus was on teaching fundamentals and developing…
