We Are Going Long Term!

Flemings in the Philippines! Happy New Year! We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas season, enjoying time with loved ones and reflecting on the birth of our Savior. Thank You! We are so grateful for you all and the support you have shown us these past two years. Thank you for all of your messages, gifts, and prayers. Thank you for journeying with us as we prepared to leave for the mission field, taught online and blended learning last…

Flemings in the Philippines!

Hello Friends and Family! We hope and pray that you are doing well. We just finished our first semester of school of the 2022-23 school year and there is SO much to be thankful for. Everyday life in Manila is pretty much back to normal with mask mandates being dropped early in the school year. Our students were able to attend fully in-person classes and enjoy many extracurricular activities. It was encouraging to see so many students discover more about…

Christmas Greetings from Japan

Merry Christmas 2022!  We are excited that Julia (23) will be coming “home” to Japan for Christmas! Our annual Zoom Christmas celebration will have Grady and Britt joining from Manila and Tess and Jacob visiting family in Chicago (they live in Toronto). We want to say thank you to all who have been praying and supporting us financially! God continues to meet our every need and surprise us! We just found out today that of one of our long-term supporting…

Flemings in Japan

Autumn 2022 Hello to all of our faithful prayer and financial supporters! This year marks 30 years since we were appointed with Fellowship International! We are grateful to have been able to visit Ontario this past summer. We were able to connect with a number of churches and individuals, but our time was mostly about visiting family. We enjoyed time with Tess and Jacob currently living in Toronto and vacationing with Julia (final year of university). Spending time with aging…

This Pilgrim’s Progress…

When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.                        ~God, in Leviticus 19:33-34  Amazing Rock formations discovered while hiking in Kananaskis. Water balloons a basic staple of summer camp!My colleague Laura and I…

Flemings in the Philippines!

Hello family and friends,  We hope you are doing well! Over the past six weeks, COVID restrictions have gradually loosened in the Manila area, so Faith Academy has slowly been able to increase the amount of face-to-face activities at school. Hybrid learning is in full-swing, after school activities (including sports!) have begun, and life is beginning to resemble pre-pandemic life. Classroom We have really enjoyed getting to know our students more and seeing them adjust to being in school again.…

Flemings in the Philippines!

Blended Learning In light of the decrease in covid cases in Manila, the Department of Education in the Philippines is allowing Faith Academy to have school in person! This week we began “blended learning,” which means that we are teaching synchronously to kids online and in person. It is SO nice (and feels surreal) to have students in our classrooms. Faith Academy has not had in-person classes since March 2020! We are inviting you to pray with us as we…

Flemings in the Philippines!

By God’s grace, we completed our first semester of teaching! Some words we might use to describe this past season include: fun, stretching, rewarding, humbling, and encouraging, just to name a few. It was a lot of work to learn the content of our courses on top of learning how to teach (online!), but God was so gracious to us and provided us with the strength, wisdom, and support that we needed for each day. Becoming teachers has taught us…

Hi Everyone, Happy late Christmas and New Year! We hope 2022 finds you all well. We have some big news for everyone, so please watch the video below as I don’t want to give any spoilers away. Thanks for all of your help in 2021, we were so touched by…

Britt & Grady Fleming

Thank you all for your support and prayers these past few months! God has been incredibly faithful and has provided for us as we have been transitioning to life in the Philippines and learning to be teachers. There are a whole host of things that we would love to share with you, so we are going to split our update up into two newsletters. This newsletter will be more of a life update, and we will send out an update…

Hitachinaka Happenings

Merry Christmas from Hitachinaka, Japan! As the world approaches a second “Covid Christmas”, we, like most people, will make adjustments. Our family Christmas celebration will definitely have a Zoom flavour this year. Tess and Jacob are in Toronto, Grady and Britt are teaching MKs in Manila. Kathryn and I are in Japan, but Kathryn will return to Canada briefly to visit her parents and siblings, and help Julia move from a work term in Toronto to a study term in…

This Pilgrim’s Progress…

This Pilgrim’s Progress… As we gathered last week as a staff team and spent time in this passage, I was left with several questions to ponder. Among them, what does good shepherding of non-believers look like? And what TRULY motivates me as I work with students–is it a crown of glory from the Chief Shepherd, or something else? These are hard but good questions to be asking as we enter a new year that is in many ways more uncertain…
