HERE ARE THE COMMON STRUGGLES EVERY AUDIENCE SHARES.

Standing in front of people to deliver a message can be a daunting experience. We wonder if what we have to say will connect with people in real and practical ways. This is especially true in the context of the church, where the messages are vehicles of bringing hope and meaning into people’s lives. In this post, I outline the common struggles that exist in every crowd, regardless of size. Knowing these will help you engage your audience in meaningful and effective ways.

Thank You!

Dear Village Green, I wanted to write a blog post to you all thanking for the last two years.  When I came to Village Green Community Church, I was a nervous and insecure mess.  I needed a lot of encouragement and pushing to grow as a believer but, more importantly, as a Pastor.  These last two years have been precisely what I needed. I went through some personal struggles with my Diabetes and weight loss, and during that, I got…

4 Things for a Great Worship Culture

Over the past two years I’ve had the privilege of being the worship coordinator at Village Green. In those short two-year, Village Green has become family for my family and a place of grace and support as we share in the work of the gospel. I’m convinced God is doing great things at Village Green and that he will continue to use us for his glory in the future. As I think about our church and the almost twenty years…

Discerning Truth: A Follow Up to a Sermon on Truth (Oct 27, 2019)

While into the series on “We Are The Church,” we presented a message on truth, a hallmark of our Christian faith. I presented the 4 areas where ‘truth’ questions resonate most, in the areas of Origins, Meaning, Morality, and Destiny. I also mentioned that the Christian faith is the only one that satisfies their truth claims through the filters of correspondence and coherence.

Update from Rob and Kathryn Fleming

Where did the summer go? Some of it was spent down at the pond, with evidence below. This summer we met a high school friend in Espanola, who drove from Elliot Lake to meet us! Wish it could have been longer, as that is why we are here in Canada. We have enjoyed rich fellowship with good friends and family along the way so far, and look forward to more in the coming weeks. In Praise of Every Day Heroes

I’m surrounded by heroes. Not the DC Comic or Marvel versions we see in the comics or at the movie theatres. As entertaining as they may be, they don’t really inspire me in meaningful ways. I’m also not talking about those courageous people who serve the general public by potentially putting themselves in harm’s way. Police, firemen, military, disaster-relief workers, or the like. The heroes I’m talking about rarely get the recognition they deserve.

The 7 Things That Can Cause You to Lose Focus as a Leader

Focus is an important discipline. Especially if you want to make a difference or achieve something of value in life. There are lots of good distractions and lots of potentially rewarding experiences, but without laser sharp focus, you will find yourself chasing every good idea but never really accomplishing anything of great personal value. I have been reminded recently on the importance of focus. As a church leader I get approached from time to time with ideas from people who…

The Biggest Hurdle We Face When We Feel Stuck

In this post, I talk about one mental exercise that is often the hurdle to moving forward out of the darkness. The hurdle is natural, and even promoted by the world around us, yet is a contributing factor to people feeling stuck.
