From Kids to Adults, Contentment

Our Orange Curriculum is pretty great.  The philosophy behind it is that the Church and Family work together to make a greater impact on the kids lives. Our hope and goal for all the kids in Kids Connection is that they will come to have an authentic relationship with Jesus and as they grow up will continue to be active members of the Church. I wanted to start doing a monthly devotional type blog called From Kids to Adults. The…

Why Should Your Students Go On a Retreat?

One of the big things I have brought to Village Green is that we will be a youth group that takes part in retreats. Since Bedlam is approaching quickly, I wanted to explain why I have made this decision. Over my time in ministry I have noticed that weekend retreats meet 3 needs in a healthy youth ministry: they break the static, build relationships, and deepen students faith. Life is chaotic and busy.  There is always something more to do…

Kids Connection Theme for June (Grades 1-5)

God is stronger than anyone and He can do things that would be impossible for you or me. He has proved this throughout history, but nowhere is this more evident than in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Because of what Jesus has done, we can have confidence. And when you put your faith in Jesus, you can live fully alive. Our memory verse for this month is: “I REMAIN CONFIDENT OF THIS: I WILL SEE THE GOODNESS OF THE…

Kids Connection Theme for June (Preschool and Kindergarten)

This month, we’re going to start our ride through the Bikes and Trikes theme as we teach our preschoolers that the Bible tells us which way to go. How wonderful would it be if our preschoolers grew up using the Bible as their compass as they ride through life! Our Memory Verse is: “SHOW ME THE RIGHT PATH, O LORD; POINT OUT THE ROAD FOR ME TO FOLLOW” – Psalm 25:4

Kids Connection Theme for May (Preschool and Kindergarten)

Our Theme is work of Art which will help the kids learn that God has a plan for them! We see other works of art every day that have a Maker and a plan. We pass them on the street, at work, and every Sunday they play around our feet. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Yes, people! People are God’s works of art. He is our maker. And, He has a plan for each of us. Every neighbor. Every…

Kids Connection Theme for May (Grades 1-5)

Our theme for May is Honesty! God wants what is best for us. He has called us His children, and given us great things. Because we know that God is good, WE CAN BE HONEST. Lying and cheating are a response to fear. They are what people do if they think no one else will take care of them. But when you trust in God, when you know His love, you have a different response. You can be truthful. Our…

Snocamp Winter Retreat

This was our first year going to Snocamp in a long time.  Snocamp is a winter retreat for our High School students.  We head up to Muskoka Woods and join in with over 500 other students in a time of worship and fun.  These weekends are designed to break the static of everyday life for the students.  When that static is broken it does wonderful things. Students get to spend an entire weekend away from their lives.  At Snocamp there…

April’s Focus for kids grades 1-5

This month for our Grades 1 through 5 we will be going on a Road Trip and learning about Patience.  Patience is crucial because often in life there are things that are worth waiting for. Our Memory Verse is “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” – Psalm 27:14 NLT The life application that will come out of each lesson is the idea of  “waiting till later for what you want now”.

April’s Focus for kids 5 and under

In Kids Connection we take teaching the kids about God very seriously.  The theme for this month’s teaching is Big News.  We will be sharing about the Big News of Easter and how sharing that Big News with others is equally as important. Our Memory Verse for this Month will be: “Go and make disciples of all nations” – Matt 28:19 NIV In every week during our Bible lesson, the kids are asked a Key Question that triggers the Bottom…
