Fraud Warning!
This is pastor Jon. This is a quick update to warn you that someone is once again impersonating me and asking for money. Remember, the church, nor I, would ever approach you in a text or email to ask for money. Below is the email script so please DO NOT respond to it. This is a common scam. Always verify who you are speaking to. If you have been contacted, report it to the London Police Department and the Canadian…
Village Green Newsletter – December 2025
Welcome to December!
As we enter this season of anticipation and celebration, we’re reminded once again of the profound hope at the heart of the Christmas story. In a world often marked by uncertainty, the birth of Christ breaks in with the promise of light, peace, and renewed joy.
This month, our schedules may be full—but may our hearts be even fuller. As a church family, let’s take time to reflect on God’s faithfulness over the past year, embrace opportunities to serve and bless others, and prepare our spirits to welcome the One who came to dwell among us.
Fraud Warning!
This is pastor Jon from Village Green Community Church. Someone is impersonating me and asking people for gift cards. If you get a text from 1-810-306-9683, please ignore and under no circumstances send them any money. They are sending texts to everyone on our roster, and we are trying to find out where the breach happened. We are very sorry for this. Thank you, and please be diligent. Blessings

Village Green Newsletter – November 2025
Welcome to the November Newsletter. Here at Village Green Community Church, we continue to see God’s faithfulness in the lives of our people, the growth of our ministries, and the deepening sense of community among us. As we look toward the latter part of the year, may we each find fresh reasons to give thanks to God—for His provision, His presence, and His promises that never fail.
Hitachinaka Happenings -Coming Home
Just before we left Japan, we asked our supporting churches and friends to pray regarding our transition. Specifically, we asked for prayer for a car, an apartment, and for our boxes shipped by sea mail via the post office(!) to arrive in a timely manner. The Lord answered “more than we could ask or imagine” with a car that meets our needs, and we are now “continuing together in one Accord”. This car enabled us to move quickly, and God led…
Village Green Newsletter – October 2025
October marks a meaningful time in the life of our church. As the seasons shift, we are reminded of the Lord’s faithfulness that carries us through times of change. This month brings opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service together as a body of Christ. May these gatherings not only strengthen our community but also equip us to serve faithfully in the world, bearing witness to the hope we have in Christ.

FLEMINGS SAY GOODBYE TO JAPAN.This is our final prayer update from Japan, our home for 32 years. The Yatabe’s, friends for 30 years from our Hitachi church plant will drive us to the airport on September 18. In 1988 we came on a one-year teaching assignment and were appointed long term in 1992. After over half our lives in Japan we are sad to leave, and thankful we came.Rob’s regular preaching ministry in five small Japanese churches has come to…
Flemings in the Philippines!
We’re back to school! We have started our fifth year teaching and coaching at Faith Academy, and we eagerly await all that God is going to do this year. The rhythms of the school have become familiar to us. One of Faith’s annual practices is the Flag Ceremony. This year, there are 34 nations represented! This ceremony is an opportunity to rejoice in the beauty of our diversity while celebrating our unity in Christ. What Are We Excited For? We…
Village Green Newsletter – September 2025
September is quickly approaching and with so much coming in the next month we are releasing this newsletter a bit early so you can plan accordingly. There is a lot here so let’s dive in.
Flemings in the Philippines!
We have recently finished the 24’-25’ school year and would love to share some personal updates and ministry highlights from this past semester! Our Home God has truly blown us away with providing such a wonderful home for us. We love our new space and feel like it has really helped us rest. We love the fresher air and slightly cooler temperatures (even a degree or two makes a difference!) that come along with being in a more mountainous area.…
Hitachinaka Happenings
Greetings from Hitachinaka, Japan. At the end of September of this year we will be returning home to Canada, 33 years after our initial appointment to Japan in 1992. We will spend October to December, 2025 visiting with family, looking for an apartment in the Waterloo area, and setting said apartment up for the next step in God’s plan for us. After all these years in Japan, the only things we have stored in Canada is Rob’s fishing stuff! We…
