Village Green Newsletter – October 2025

Village Green Newsletter – October 2025

October marks a meaningful time in the life of our church. As the seasons shift, we are reminded of the Lord’s faithfulness that carries us through times of change. This month brings opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service together as a body of Christ. May these gatherings not only strengthen our community but also equip us to serve faithfully in the world, bearing witness to the hope we have in Christ.

OCTOBER SCHEDULE

October 5, 12, 19, 26 – We continue our series in Ecclesiastes, The Search for Meaning: A Journey Through Life’s Questions. Life Groups are in full swing as well. If you are interested in checking out a group, just contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com

A reminder that ALPHA continues on Sunday evenings in the large room downstairs, beginning at 7 pm.

A reminder that our October 5th service is our Communion Service. Following the service, we will be hosting a Newcomer Luncheon. If you are new to Village Green, we invite you to have lunch on us, hear about the church, its various ministries, and have your questions answered. Please let us know if you are coming so we can plan accordingly. Sign-up sheets are in the foyer.

SOUP SUNDAYS ARE BACK!

Mark your calendar on October 19th for the next Soup Sunday. Sign-up sheets will be available a couple of weeks ahead of time. Remember, if you are making a soup to make sure to bring a list of the ingredients.

JOIN OUR WELCOME CENTRE TEAM!

Do you enjoy meeting new people and helping others feel at home? Our Welcome Centre is looking for friendly volunteers to serve as a “concierge” for guests and members alike. From answering questions to offering a warm smile, you’ll help create a first impression that reflects the love of Christ. If you’d like to be part of this vital ministry, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

EFC REQUEST AND APPEAL

The EFC (Evangelical Fellowship of Canada) is a national association that seeks to unite Evangelicals to bless Canada in the name of Jesus. As part of the mission, they often deal with issues of religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and caring for the vulnerable. They are often instrumental in legally confronting the government when matters of religion are being challenged.

One such issue is the government wanting to extend the MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) program to those with mental health issues beginning in March 2027. This is a very concerning expansion of this program so the EFC has sent information packages with ways that you can help in repealing Bill C-218. You can pick up an information package at the Welcome Centre. If you would like more information, you can follow the link below.

CONNECT WITH US

If there is an area where you would like to serve or would like more information, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com or fill out a Connection Card. Simply click the link to the Connection Card below.

A reminder that another Celebration Service is coming in November, so if you are looking to be baptized, or become a member, or dedicate a child, we would love to talk further with you. You can contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

THEOLOGY JAM

New content has been added during the summer months. Matthew and I (Jon) wrestle with the theological implications of the Israeli-Gaza conflict. As a follow-up to that discussion, Harvy Katz, a Jewish-Christian and one of the founders of Open Doors church, joined us to discuss the conflict from his cultural and theological perspective.

You can find Theology Jam on your favourite platform, and you can contact us with requests and comments at theologyjam@gmail.com.

UPDATE ON REVELATION RELEASE

My latest book, Revelation from 30,000 Feet: Reclaiming the Most Abused and Misused Book of the Bible, is on track for a pre-Christmas release. Once again, I am offering a free chapter from the book, The Message of Revelation, and you can grab it from the link below.

I am starting to take pre-orders for the book for those who are interested in grabbing a copy. You can add you name to the pre-order list by emailing axia.pub@gmail.com with your name and the number of copies you would like. The cost of the book is $25.00 but payment is not required until the books are ready to go, this is only a list for letting us know to reserve you a copy. It would also be nice to know if you would like a paperbook, ebook, or audio version. We will keep you posted on the scheduled release dates. Here’s your free chapter, and as always, I would love to know your thoughts on what you’ve read so far.

Lastly, my book, The Trojan Horse of Leadership: Battling the Enemy We All Face is now available as an audiobook. You can grab your audio version below.

EXPLORE LIFE AT VILLAGE GREEN

As we step further into this season of change, we are reminded that the church is unlike any other place in our lives. It is where truth meets grace, where burdens are carried together, and where God’s presence brings clarity to life’s complexities. In a world that often feels overwhelming, the church remains a steady anchor—guiding, nurturing, and reminding us that we never walk alone. It is part of what we mean when we invite you to explore life at Village Green. May this October be a month where you experience afresh the beauty of belonging to Christ’s body.

Thanks for being part of this community.
