Welcome to the summer newsletter for Village Green Community Church (This edition is for both July and August). We have a number of news items and updates to keep you informed of the happenings over the next two months. Though the summer is in full swing, we hope you will take some time in the next couple of months to relax and recharge.
COMMUNION, FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH

Our Communion Sundays are July 3rd and August 7th (The first Sunday of the month). We are a church that celebrates an open communion, meaning the only requirement for participating is belief in Jesus Christ.
If you are part of the online community and want to participate, please make sure to have the elements ready. For those of you attending in-person, pick up your communion cup as you enter the auditorium.
NEW SERMON SERIES

Starting on July 10th is our summer series, Wisdom By The Book. This 8-part series looks at the wisdom literature of the Bible, specifically from the Book of Proverbs.
Here is the promo for the series. Information is everywhere and easily accessible. Wisdom, on the other hand, is another matter entirely. The ability to live wisely will make our lives better, not only for ourselves, but for others as well. As we grow in wisdom, we grow deeper as a person but also deeper in our walk with God.
Hope you plan on joining us for this informative and inspirational series!
COMING THIS SUMMER – ROB FLEMING
On Sunday, August 14th, our missionary in Japan, Rob Fleming, will be at Village Green to speak during the morning service.

Rob, Kathryn, and family, have been missionaries in Japan for many years and Village Green has partnered with them for a majority of those years, so we are excited to have Rob deliver the message that morning.
I hope you plan on joining us on Sunday, August 14th at 10:00 am.

HELP US BUILD COMMUNITY AND STAY CONNECTED!

We continue to see a steady stream of new visitors to our church. Please take a moment to say hi, and to welcome those who are new and make them feel welcomed. In a post-Covid world, people are looking for authentic connections in order to start feeling human again.
Also want to remind you to “like” and/or “share” the services and any social media posts from the church. These help us get the message of the Gospel to a wider audience. Thanks to those who continue to share and support the ministry of Village Green.
Lastly, if you have not subscribed to our newsletter or YouTube channel then why not add your name and stay connected to all that is happening at the church.
UPDATE – CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

At our last congregational meeting on June 26th we approved the audited statements from our financial auditor. We also approved the slate of officers for the upcoming year. They are: Jarred Curtis, Chair of the Board, Scott Rowe, Treasurer, and Jeff Brown as Church Clerk. They start in their official capacity in September.
It was also mentioned that the church needs to have the roof replaced and is now in the process of going through the quotes. This is a possible $100,000 or more expenditure. Please pray for wisdom as the Board decides the best option for contracting and paying for the new roof.
THEOLOGY JAM

Check out the podcast hosted by Jon Korkidakis and Matthew Burkholder where they discuss relevant topics affecting our spiritual lives and the church. Some new podcasts will be releasing soon so if you’re looking for inspirational material as you while away the summer hours then why not check it out?
You can find them on your favourite podcast apps such as Spotify, Anchor, and iTunes. If you have an idea for a topic or a question, you can contact them at theologyjam@gmail.com.

LOOKING AHEAD
As a leadership, we continue to look forward as we navigate a post-Covid world. As we look beyond the summer, September typically sees people return to routines due to school starting etc.
We are anticipating this September to see more people returning and therefore a greater impact and expectation on the ministries here at Village Green. We are praying to that end.
As a teaser, September will see another of our missionary partners, Jacob Paul, deliver a message on September 11th. The following week, beginning on September 18th is our new, 10-part series, Messy Life: Finding Our Way Back to the Stress-Free Zone. The series will be timely as we continue to move out of a pandemic-focused world.
Of course, this series will also introduce the return to the season of Life Groups, so we are looking forward to connecting more people into groups to help us grow deeper in our faith.

I hope you’re excited for the month’s ahead? We are seeing growth in our youth group, some exciting happenings in Kids Connection, summer interns, and a host of other things that are reminding us that God is actively working in our midst.
Until next time;
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
