Coming Soon to Canada: Jacob, Leidy & Oliver!
Every time I sit down to write our personal update, I am always surprised at how much has happened and maybe one of these days I will remember to make notes as time passes, but until that happens you are stuck with my fleeting memory. My apologies. I don’t want to jinx anything, but it seems that (after months and months of rain) the sun has finally come to stay…or at least it has been out for 4 days in a row. We were all sick about 2 weeks ago, but are now fully recovered and back to planning and getting things ready here for when we leave to visit Canada.
El Nido is going strong and we are diligently working on our grant for the Rotary Club, which is in the last stages and then will be submitted for approval. We have many proposals and plans for next year, but need prayer for wisdom and how to proceed and make sure we don’t take on too much, or spread ourselves too thin.
Our church plant, Reunion Colombia, has been a blessing for us and we are excited to celebrate our first year anniversary together this July. It has been challenging, but in a good way and we feel so loved and honoured to be part of a church family here that not only embraces us as a family, but also the work we are involved in. I need to get busy studying for my credentialing process in order to complete my training to become a licensed pastor within the next 24 months. I am excited to do this….I just need to prioritize that time.
As a family, we are good, but I think due for a rest. Coming to Canada is always great for us, but it isn’t always as restful as we think (or hope) it will be. However, we will try to have some mandatory “down time” while we are there. One of our biggest needs when we are back is transportation as we have to travel around quite a bit, so if you or anyone you know has a vehicle that they may be able to lend us, that would be awesome and we would be very grateful. If you would like to set up a time to get together, also, please let us know as we are already trying to hammer out an idea of what our schedule will look like while we are there. Our last prayer request is for our travel. I have heard that the Toronto Airport is a bit chaotic right now and is losing bags like nobody’s business. Please pray that we make our connecting flight, our bags arrive and that Oliver enjoys the plane ride…or at least tolerates it.
I am trying to keep this as brief and succinct as possible, but as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to write to us and ask. We hope to see all or many of you this August – October.
See you soon,
Jacob, Leidy and Oliver.
Here are some pictures to hold you over…hahaha. Although, we realized that we barely take any pictures of ourselves…they are almost all of Oliver and other people.
