Welcome to the June installment of our newsletter. This particular edition will cover the months of June, July, and August as we take a bit of a break over the summer months. The next issue will come in September with a whole range of updates and news.
SUMMER AT VILLAGE GREEN!
Remember, the first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday. If you are coming in person we have communion cups as you enter the auditorium. For those online, please prepare the elements beforehand if you want to participate.

In the first 3 weeks of June, we are doing a series, entitled, Seduction. We will be studying the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. The promo for the series is as follows: We are all susceptible to temptation. The seduction of instant gratification is easy to justify and defend. After all, we are flawed humans with appetites and desires so why not allow ourselves a few sinful pleasures? The problem with temptation is that there is always more at stake than what is in the moment.
This 3-week series will conclude our Life Group session for the summer until the next session starts up again on September 17, with a brand new series.
June 25 – We welcome Rob Fleming who will be bringing the message on the last Sunday of June. Rob and his family are our missionary partners in Japan.
July 2 – Matthew Burkholder will be speaking on the first Sunday of July.
Other guest speakers will be introduced in July. Also, for the months of July and August, we will be presenting a multi-part series, Prepare for Impact: Bold Faith in a Culture of Conflict.
DAY CAMPS – 2023

We are partnering with Forest Cliff Camps and Adullam Camps this summer. Below is the schedule for each camp.
Forest Cliff Camp will run for two weeks from July 10-14 and July 17-21.
Adullam Camp will run from July 31 to August 4.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
We will be having a congregational meeting right after the service on June 18. This is the meeting where we review the auditors’ report, the annual report, and approve the slate of new officers (Board of Directors, Board of Elders, Clerk, and Treasurer).

If you are going to be away, but still want your approval of the slate of new officers to count, you may ask for an absentia ballot. Contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com to request one. Please give ample time for this request as an absentia ballot requires leadership approval, so please give a reason for your absence from the meeting when you email the church.
BASEBALL SEASON IS HERE
The 2023 Baseball season at Village Green is upon us. All games are played at Weldon Park in Arva and all games have a start time of 6:30 pm.
The schedule is presented below with a link to download your own copy if needed.
Also, if you are free and want to come, cheer for the team, and generally enjoy a great night out, we would love to see you.
JUNE 19 INVITATION
If you have any kind of leadership role here at Village Green, we are inviting you to a special evening on June 19 from 7-9 pm at the church.

The Elders, Board of Directors, and staff have been praying and working hard on visioning for the future and we want to share our process with you and get your input and insights. This is an important season for discernment so we appreciate as many as are able to attend.
Again, if you have any leadership role in the church, you are invited to attend. (Leadership roles such as ministry head, worship leader, Life Group leader, Strategic communicator, Kids Connection teacher, etc). We hope to see you there.
THEOLOGY JAM
The latest podcast to drop was on May 30, when this newsletter was being produced. It features Marion, the afternoon host of Heading Home with Marion on Faith99.9, London’s Christian radio station. You will hear her story of faith and how she got into radio and how the Lord has guided her every step of the way. Don’t miss this enlightening conversation.

We also have an upcoming conversation with Jared VanderMeulen, who is the Social Media and Digital Communication specialist for Open Doors Canada. This organization monitors christian persecution around the world and this is an episode you do not want to miss. Every year in November, Village Green participates in the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, so the insights and statistics that Jared brings to this topic is both enlightening and troubling. Look for it to drop soon.
We have scheduled Kelly Tallon Franklin, who works with women coming out of human trafficking, a problem that is prevelent in Southwestern Ontario. We are also going to be talking to Mission Services about the problems of addiction and homelessness in London. Matthew and I will also be delving into relevent topics so make sure you subscribe and get caught up on every episode.
ITEMS FOR PRAYER
As the summer approaches, many will be away, enjoying some well-deserved time off. It does create shortages in our volunteer base so please be in prayer that programs and ministries are not adversely affected.

Pray for this season of transition. Over the summer we will see new elders and directors, as well as assessment of programs as we look to the Fall ministry start-up.
Pray for continued financial health. The summer months can be lean. We are thankful for a strong start to our fiscal year so please continue to remember the church and the many ministries it supports financially.
Lastly, pray that Village Green continues to impact others with the Gospel. We will see many children pass through our doors as we host three weeks of camps. There will be two community barbecues, Youth and Life Group gatherings, a leadership barbecue and other gatherings that bring people together. All of these have the potential to touch lives in significant ways.
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
