October Newsletter – Village Green Community Church

October has a way of reminding us that life is always changing. The leaves begin to turn, the days grow shorter, and the familiar rhythms of summer give way to a new season. Change is all around us.

As we enter this new season at Village Green, we continue Exploring Life together by asking questions and discovering what it means to follow Jesus, while looking for the fingerprints of God in the ordinary moments of our lives. Faith is not about having everything figured out; it is about continuing the journey with the One who walks with us.

May this October be a season of renewed curiosity, deeper faith, and a fresh awareness of God’s presence among us. There is always more to discover when we explore life together.

During the month of October we are continuing our series, Fingerprints of God: God, Creation, and the Wonder of Love.

Our Life Groups continue as well, so if you are wanting to join a group, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

October 4 – Communion Service. This is also the last day to complete the Missions Survey. If you haven’t had chance to fill our the survey I highly recommend that you check it out. The survey is not just for people that have participated in missions or gone overseas or to other countries… if you have participated in local mission work here in Canada or in London, we’d love to hear from you. If you have a loved one that has done mission work or if you support a missionary through financial giving or through prayer, we’d love to hear about how that has touched your life and impacted your walk with God. Once the survey comes down, we’re planning on using the feedback to map out all of the counties our congregation has touched through missions work, prayer and support. And that visual will be shared with you all on Mission Sunday on October 18!

October 18 – This is our Missions Sunday with a special focus on the topic of Missions. This will also be a Soup Sunday so sign-ups will be available in the foyer.

October 25 – Following the service we will be holding our next Base Camp. Base Camp is a welcoming luncheon designed for newcomers and anyone who wants to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and how you can find your place in our church community. Just like a base camp on a mountain, this is where you pause, get oriented, meet your guides, and discover the paths ahead.

At Base Camp, you’ll:

  • Enjoy a relaxed meal and meaningful conversation.
  • Hear the story, vision, and values of our church.
  • Meet pastors, leaders, and other members.
  • Learn about ministries, Life Groups, and ways to serve
  • Ask honest questions in a comfortable, pressure-free setting

Sign-ups will be available in the foyer.

COURSES AND BIBLE STUDIES

The Gospel of John and Alpha continue throughout the month of October on Sunday evenings. Both studies will take a break on the Sunday before Thanksgiving (Oct 11).

Ladie’s Bible Study begins Tuesday, October 20 at 9:30 am, in the large room downstairs. The study is on the Book of Nehemiah with Kelly Minter.

During the 7 sessions of the study, we will be focusing on growing deeper in our understanding of compassion, teamwork and putting faith into action.

Men’s Bible Study will also resume on Tuesday, October 20 at 9:30 am in the Overflow room upstairs.

For scheduling, or information on any of these groups, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery is offering an 8-week study entitled Life’s Healing Choices, starting October 1st at 7 pm. This faith-based program is designed to help people find freedom from personal struggles through eight principles rooted in the Beatitudes of Jesus. If you are interested, please contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com or add your name to the signup sheet in the foyer.

NEW WAY TO CONNECT

Black and white QR code designed with a star symbol in the center.

You will notice in the Life Group notes a single QR code. This single code will take you to all the different blogs, newsletters, social media, livestreams, and other connection links related to the church.

This will simplify the many links we have as a church by having them in one easy-to-access location. Look for this QR code to show up in more locations soon.

COMING NOVEMBER 29th

Mark your calendars for the next Celebration Sunday. Celebration Sunday is a special opportunity to pause, look back, and give thanks for all that God has been doing in and through our church family. We’ll celebrate stories of faith, moments of growth, answered prayers, and the ways God continues to lead us into the future.

We celebrate baptisms, memberships, ministry milestones, and many more expressions of God’s transforming work. To take the next step in your spiritual journey or for more information, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

This is a day to celebrate what God has done and what He is still doing at Village Green! Come with a grateful heart as we remember His faithfulness, rejoice in His goodness, and look forward with anticipation to the adventure ahead.

AND FINALLY…

As October unfolds, may we remember that following Jesus is not a destination we arrive at, but a journey we continue to explore. There will always be new questions to ask, new things to learn, and new ways to recognize God’s presence and love.

Whatever this season brings, may we face it with open hearts, curious minds, and confidence in the God who journeys with us.

The adventure continues—and we continue exploring life together.

Blessings,
Jon Korkidakis
