Village Green Update – November 6, 2020

Here is the latest newsletter from Village Green Community Church.

Our 50th Anniversary

November marks our 50th year as a church. The theme for the month is Faithful God: Faithful People. Last week we had the honour of interviewing Louise Dakin, who has been a member of this church for 49 years. If you missed the interview you can grab the video here. The interview starts at the 8:18 mark.

We are also releasing a historical reflection from many past and present members recounting their memories of the church. If you want to read their reflections you can grab the digital version here – VG History FINAL -Digital.

We also want to thank everyone who contributed to the history, to Dale Mackness for collecting all the submissions, and to Noreen Spruyt who collated and formatted them into book form.

You can check out our promotional video here!

Coming Soon!

We will soon be announcing our Christmas initiative, Be a Light, Do What’s Right, as we collect winter clothing for Mission Services. Stay tuned for drop-off times, dates, and location.

We also have some exciting plans ahead for the Christmas services that we will be announcing soon so stay tuned for those details.

Thank You

Though the majority of our ministry is happening in the digital realm, we still have many people working behind the scenes and in front of the cameras who bring quality ministry week in and week out. They are further complemented by the volunteers who are helping with the physical gatherings on Sunday mornings.

In recognition of those volunteers we want to acknowledge our gratitude for their service to the church, the Gospel, and the Kingdom of God. We could not do it without you!

Website Changes

We recently announced some changes coming to the website. Our Technical Team is presently at work on the changes and we will announce them when they are completed. The changes will allow us to stream the services directly on our website as well as allowing you to grab the notes, give, chat and a host of other things within the livestream page.

It will also allow us to broadcast simultaneously to different platforms such as YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more.

The Major Seven

Pastor Jon is once again hosting a new Bible Study series, entitled The Major Seven. These are the seven most important chapters in the Bible and why they are critical for understanding them. The new session runs on Monday nights from October 19th and ends on November 30th. The time is 7:00-8:00 pm EST and you can catch the link on YouTube and Facebook just before the start time. You can also grab the corresponding notes and live stream at www.jkorkidakis.com. Here are the links to the YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Give!

We are grateful for the many who continue to faithfully give to the ministry here at Village Green. There are three primary ways to give to the church:

  1. Drop off your offering at the church, either through the mailbox during the week or in the basket when entering the service on Sunday morning.
  2. Go to our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com, and use the Give button on the top-right menu bar. There is also a Give bottom in the footer menu of the website as well. The Give button will take you to our PayPal portal.
  3. You can also give by using envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt.

Re-Gathering Protocols

We also have a document listing the protocols for our Sunday morning gatherings. For a full list of our protocols, you can grab them here: VG-Re-Gathering Protocols 2020.

Blessings; Jon Korkidakis
