Village Green Update – November 13, 2020

Here is the latest newsletter from Village Green Community Church. This weeks update has some new and important news to share.

Continuing Our 50th Anniversary Celebrations

November marks our 50th year as a church. The theme for the month is Faithful God: Faithful People. Last week we had the honour of interviewing Steve Males who is the former pastor of the church. If you missed the interview you can grab the video here. The interview starts at the 9:19 mark.

We’ve also released an historical reflection from many past and present members. If you want to read their reflections you can grab the digital version below.

We also want to thank everyone who contributed to the history, to Dale Mackness for collecting all the submissions, and to Noreen Spruyt who collated and formatted them into book form.

You can check out our promotional video here!

Upcoming Christmas Schedule

We begin a new series, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, on the first Sunday of December. We are excited to have Brent and Jennifer Paul lead us each Sunday through Advent devotions as part of our countdown to Christmas.

Christmas Eve 2020

We also want to announce the theme for our Christmas Eve service, The Gift of Belief. The service will feature traditional carols, Scripture readings, special guests, a message, and the lighting of the candles. You are not going to want to miss this service filled with hope and inspiration and even a few surprises.

The service will be fully streamed online on Christmas Eve beginning at 7:00 pm. Due to the pandemic restrictions for large groups, there will be no in-service attendance component this year.

Lastly, there will be no service on the final Sunday of the year, December 27th.

Website Updates

Starting this Sunday, you will be able to watch the live stream natively on the church website. (www.villagegreenchurch.com). You can still connect with other platforms like YouTube and Facebook if you prefer. The chat line should also work across all platforms. As this is the first Sunday utilizing a new platform please be in prayer that all will work as tested.

The Major Seven

The Major Seven

Pastor Jon is once again hosting a new Bible Study series, entitled The Major Seven. These are the seven most important chapters in the Bible and why they are critical for understanding them. Give!

We are grateful for the many who continue to faithfully give to the ministry here at Village Green. There are three primary ways to give to the church:

1. Drop off your offering at the church, either through the mailbox during the week or in the basket when entering the service on Sunday morning.

2. Go to our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com, and use the Give button on the top-right menu bar. There is also a Give bottom in the footer menu of the website as well. The Give button will take you to our PayPal portal.

3. You can also give by using envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt.

Re-Gathering Protocols

We also have a document listing the protocols for our Sunday morning gatherings. For a full list of our protocols, you can grab them below.

Blessings; Jon Korkidakis
