Here is the latest installment and update from Village Green Community Church. We’ve got some important news and updates to share.
Our 50th Anniversary
The month of November marks our 50th year as a church. The theme for the month will be Faithful God: Faithful People. It will be a month of special interviews (wait till you see the people we interview!), and remembrances that come with 50 years of faithful ministry. We are releasing a historical reflection from several members who recount their years of ministry in the church. We will also be starting a new sermon series highlighting the faithfulness of God so hope you will join us for this month of celebration! You can check out our promotional video here!
If you want to read the reflections on the history of the church from those who have contributed you can grab it here – VG History 2020 DIGITAL.
Communion
A reminder that the first Sunday in November is also our Communion service. There will be communion elements supplied for those who attend in person that are individually sealed. For those of you at home, if you want to participate please make sure you have the elements ready for your family.
IDOP (International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church)
The first Sunday in November also marks the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. There will be a special online gathering time at 9:00 am before the service to engage in prayer for the people around the world who are being persecuted for their Christian faith.
The Clocks Go Back

This Saturday Daylight Saving Time ends, which means the clocks go back one hour Saturday night. If you do forget to set your clocks back and get to church an hour early, why not join the online prayer group?
Two Beautiful Gifts
This past week the church was blessed with two donations from two artists in the church. They are beautiful expressions of not only their God-given talents but of their desire to bless the church, especially during our 50th-year celebrations. We want to extend our gratitude, appreciation, and thankfulness for both these treasured gifts.
The first is a painting from Amelia Husnik. If you know anything about Amelia, she is a gifted artist, and her painting of the church with our Mission Statement is a
perfect addition to the entrance of the auditorium. It will be a continual reminder for all who enter the sanctuary of what lies at the heart of Village Green Community Church.
The second is from Currie McLean. It is a wood carving of the Last Supper and is presently hanging in the foyer just above the fireplace. The artistry of the carving and the detail is quite stunning.
Both these works will be gracing our church for years to come so make sure you get a chance to enjoy them whenever you are able to visit us in person.
The Major Seven

Pastor Jon is once again hosting a new Bible Study series, entitled The Major Seven. These are the seven most important chapters in the Bible and why they are critical for understanding them. The new session runs on Monday nights from October 19th and ends on November 30th. The time is 7:00-8:00 pm EST and you can catch the link on YouTube and Facebook just before the start time. You can also grab the corresponding notes and live stream at www.jkorkidakis.com. Here are the links to the YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Give!
We are grateful for the many who continue to faithfully give to the ministry here at Village Green. There are three primary ways to give to the church:
- Drop off your offering at the church, either through the mailbox during the week or in the basket when entering the service on Sunday morning.
- Go to our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com, and use the Give button on the top-right menu bar. There is also a Give bottom in the footer menu of the website as well. The Give button will take you to our PayPal portal.
- You can also give by using envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt.
Re-Gathering Protocols
We also have a document listing the protocols for our Sunday morning gatherings. For a full list of our protocols, you can grab them here: VG-Re-Gathering Protocols 2020.
Blessings; Jon Korkidakis
