Here is this week’s newsletter. Thanks so much for taking the time to connect with us and staying up to date. Again, this is a long update but has a number of important items.
As a region, we have now entered into Stage 3 as announced by the government this week. As a church, nothing has really changed in terms of our August 9th re-gathering date, but one detail worth noting is that this stage has an indefinite end date.
As disheartening as it will be for some, it means that we could be in this stage for a very long time. At present, there is an allowance for 50 people to attend our services when we re-gather on August 9th.
If you are interested in coming to the services we are asking that you contact the office with your intent to attend at office@villagegreenchurch.com.
As we plan we want to stress three standard precautions that we will be enforcing as part of our regathering. They are as follows:
- Physical distancing
- Wearing a mask, when physical distancing cannot be maintained
- Washing/sanitizing of hands as well as the sanitization of all high contact areas.
Starting next Thursday with the release of our next newsletter (July 23), we will be attaching the list of protocols and expectations for those who will be part of the service or simply attending. Stay tuned.
Two Areas of Need
The church needs you on Sunday mornings when we regather, especially if you work in the worship, AV, audio, or live streaming teams. We will not be able to bless others or deliver a great online experience if we don’t have people utilizing their gifts. If you can lend a hand, please let the office know. Any time you can give would be appreciated.
The second area is on the Strategic Communications Team (you may know it as the announcement time). We are looking to expand the team so if you feel it is an area where you can contribute please let the office know. We are looking for people who can communicate well and highlight important church events and highlights. This ministry can be done from home or from the media room at the church if isolation from others is a concern for you.
You can contact the office at office@villagegreenchurch.com.
Kids Connection
Last week we began our online connection time with the kids. Thanks to the families who participated and to the volunteers who made this a reality. As we begin to reconnect with the kids we will be adding further teaching elements and other resources over time.
We also continue to make available the curriculum to our Kids Connection program as supplied by Orange. On their ParentCue app you will see their newest offering of videos, resources, and parent guides.
You can get it all here.
Mission Services Needs Our Help!
Mission Services is in need of clothing. Their supply has virtually dried up due to the pandemic while the demand is ever present. They need clothing for all needs, men, women, and children.
If you can help, please bring your clean and laundered donation to the church on these dates,
- Tuesday July 21 – between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
- Tuesday July 28 – between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
The doors will be open and we will have a designated spot for you to drop off your donation. We will be supplying hand sanitizer and a clean pathway for you to enter the building.
London Community Chaplaincy
Village Green celebrates the people who are making a difference in their communities. Pam Cullen, and her team at London Community Chaplaincy produced a video highlighting their past year and we are including it here for you. Her team works with many at risk kids and families so take a few moments to witness the way they are making a difference.
You can see their video here.
Christian Life in London
The latest edition of Christian News in London has been published. It features seven area pastors (myself being one of the seven), on how they are planning to reopen their churches.
You can read the article here.
50th Year Anniversary
This November Village Green is celebrating 50 years of ministry. I. Say. Wow.
One of our Elders, Dale Mackness is collecting stories of the history of the church and is asking if anyone has something to contribute to contact the office. We are setting aside the entire month of November for this celebration with the theme of Faithful God-Faithful People.
You can contact the office at office@villagegreenchurch.com.
Your Story, Our Church!
Thank you for getting this far into the newsletter. Well done. I do have one more thing I would like to ask. I would love to hear from you! Seriously.
Not only that, but I’m sure people would love to hear from you too! Would you consider blessing our church by telling us your story? You can do it by video, or you can write a note that I can read on Sundays.
Here is what I would love for you to do. Answer either question – How has Village Green blessed you during this time, or, What has God been teaching you during this time?
There are people struggling right now, or trying to manage the weight of responsibilities that have been heightened in this new reality. Others are wavering in their faith while others are barely managing to keep it together.
Your story may be just what they need to hear that they are not alone in this fight. That God loves them and they are connected to a church that loves them! So, why not consider blessing someone today. Your voice, may just be the voice they need to hear today!
If you are open to sharing your story, you can send it to jonkorkidakis@villagegreenchurch.com
August Break
As August approaches, we will be taking a break from our Life Groups in order to prepare for September. Therefore, no material will be produced for the month.

Ways to Give
A reminder that you can now use envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt. We also have a PayPal portal on our website: villagegreenchurch.com. You can also drop off your offerings through the mail slot at the church. It is checked on a regular basis.
Stay strong, stay healthy and stay connected.
Blessings;
Jon Korkidakis
