Welcome to our May newsletter. We are in for another full month of ministry and community, while growing together in faith. I hope you take the time to check out the schedule of events this month and let us know how we can be helping you in your walk with Jesus Christ.
EASTER AT VILLAGE GREEN!
Before we get into the schedule for May, we just want to look back at our Easter Services. From the Palm Sunday Youth production, to the Candlelight service on Good Friday, to our special choir presentation on Easter Sunday, it was a season of inspiration and blessing. As we gathered to celebrate the Passion Week and the Resurrection of Jesus, many were blessed and encouraged in their walk of faith.
We want to also thank the many volunteers who helped to make our Easter celebrations so meaningful and timely. We simply could not have done it without you!
MAY SCHEDULE
For the month of May we are continuing our series, The Script. The series looks at how Jesus flipped the script on what was considered social, cultural, and religious norms. He paved the way for a new revolutionary way of life that elevated people as human beings, deeply loved by God. No one lived more counterculturally than Jesus, who demonstrated his care and compassion by sacrificing himself so that we can be made whole again.
Below are some dates and events to remember in May.
May 4 – Communion Sunday.
May 11 – Mother’s Day.
May 18 – Pentecost Sunday.
A reminder that our Sermon-Based Life Groups are in full swing. This session ends the week of June 8th, so if you are interested in joining a group just reach out to the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com. When this session ends, the next time Life Groups reform is in September.
LEADERSHIP RETREAT
On May 3rd, the leadership of Village Green is having its Leadership Retreat. This one-day retreat includes the Board of Directors, Board of Elders, Staff, and Ministry Heads. This is a day where we assess our past and seek God’s direction for the coming year and beyond.
These retreats are important as we gather collectively to sense God’s leading and direction. We are asking for prayer, that we would be unified and have a clear sense of next steps from the Lord. We want to continue being a church that lifts high the Name of Christ and brings glory to his Name.
PRAYER WITH THE ELDERS
Mark your calendars for May 25 from 3-5 pm when the Elders will be availble for prayer. We will meet in the auditorium of Village Green Community Church. You can come and bring your prayer needs and one of our Elders will take some time and pray for those needs. This is a time of confidentiality and encouragement and we look forward to serving you in this way.
If you have a need that you would like prayer from an Elder, this is your invitation to come on May 25 from 3-5 pm.
SUMMER CAMPS
This summer Village Green will host two camps:
Forest Cliff Camps July 7-11 and Adullam Camps Aug 4-8. The church has scholarships available for families needing financial assistance for students to attend. If interested, please pick up a form in the foyer or contact the office at office@villagegreenchurch.com for a digital version.

SPRING IS HERE!
There was a gentle tap on the window of my office. There looking in was a member of our congregation encouraging me to come to the door. As I got there he was jestering to the corner just outside my office door to something hiding in the corner.
There in the corner was a baby rabbit, a sure sign that new arrivals were showing up as the winter weather was yielding to the first signs of spring.
Spring is a season of renewal, something that is not only being demonstrated by the change of seasons, but also in the week-to-week ministries here at Village Green. We have been so encouraged and thankful for the ways God is blessing us.

I also want to take a moment to thank you for the way you serve and support the ministry here at Village Green. We so appreciate all that you do for the Kingdom of Christ!
Lastly, I would like to ask for prayer. Here are the items I am asking for you to consider praying about.
- I will be away for two weeks in June. This is my Spiritual Retreat time where I put together the preaching calendar for the upcoming year. Pray that I hear clearly from the Spirit what the church needs in terms of messages and series for the year ahead.
- I am also recording the audiobook version for Touching God: Discovering Prayer that Moves the Heart of God. I am hoping to have the audiobook available by the Fall.
- I am also writing my book, Revelation from 30,000 Feet: Reclaiming the Most Abused and Misused Book of the Bible. The introductory chapters are written and I am now in the commentary section of the book. I hope to have it released by Christmas time so pray to that end. Keep on eye out on future newsletters as I’m considering offering free chapters if you are interested.
