March has arrived and with it the hope of an early spring. With that also comes a month of ministry that is impacting lives here at Village Green Community Church. We hope you are blessed by what you read in our latest newsletter.
MARCH SCHEDULE
March 5 – This is our regular Communion service. Remember to pick up your communion cup as you enter the auditorium and for those of you online, have the elements ready if you want to participate.

March 5, 12, and 19 – We continue our series on forgiveness entitled, The Grudge. This is also the closing few weeks of this session of Life Groups before we take a short break for Easter. The next session of Life Groups starts on April 16th and runs until June 18th.
March 26 – The final week of March introduces the series, Where Do I Stand? This four-part series will run during the Easter season. The descriptor for the series is as follows: Jesus attracted many crowds in his earthly ministry. Jesus’ challenge to everyone who gathered around him was where did they stand when it came to belief in him?
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

The clocks move forward one hour on Sunday, March 12th so make sure to set your clocks the evening of the 11th. This marks the beginning of eight months of extended daylight into the evening and an encouraging sign of better weather ahead.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Mark your calendars for our congregational meeting that is scheduled right after the morning service on March 26th. This is primarily the meeting when the new budget for 2023-2024 is presented, explained, and approved. You can pick up a copy of the draft budget at the Welcome Center in the foyer.

As a reminder, there is an after-church meeting on March 5th where members of the leadership will be available to answer any questions you may have. This time we intentionally set aside so that you can have the budget explained in a comprehensive way and help to keep the congregational meeting on the 26th progressing in a timely fashion.
We would also ask that you pray for the budget and the overall finances of the church. Many of you are experiencing in your personal lives the growing inflationary pressure on your finances. The church is no different. For instance, the heating bill for the church in January and February was almost $4000, a significant increase from previous years, and this was during a milder-than-normal winter.
The forthcoming budget is reflective of the inflationary pressure we are all experiencing, while at the same time recognizing that we will need about a 10% increase in giving to offset any potential budget shortfall.
CONNECTION CARDS

Our new digital connection cards are now operational. They serve a number of important functions from updating your information and areas of service to letting us know how we can serve you.

HARVARD STUDY ON HAPPINESS
In 1938, researchers from Harvard began a study to answer the question: What makes us happy in life? This decades long study has revealed some wonderful insights that really help us understand what brings contentment and value to our lives.

Why should I read this? Good question. Beyond the inventory and insights you will recieve for your own personal benefit, the article helps to reinforce a value here at Village Green. That value being the importance of community.
A healthy community has always been part of God’s plan, not just for the communities they serve, but also for the benefits that it brings for individuals and their families. At Village Green, we have always recognized the power of community and now we have even more research to back it up.
If you want to learn more, you can check out the following article:
The researchers have just released a book that presents the lessons from the world’s longest scientific study of happiness. The book is entitled, The Good Life, by Robert J. Waldinger and Marc Schulz. You can find the Amazon link to their book in the button below.
