Village Green Newsletter for April 2022

Welcome to the April issue of the Village Green newsletter. This month we enter the celebration of Easter. Below you will find the scheduling of our Easter services and other related information.

COMMUNION ON SUNDAY, APRIL 3

The first Sunday of the month is communion so if you are joining us online and want to participate, please make sure you have the elements prepared beforehand.

We will also be celebrating Communion during the Good Friday service. It will be a hybrid service as per our normal programming. See below for further details.

APRIL AND EASTER SERVICES AT VILLAGE GREEN

This Sunday we begin a new Easter series entitled, Choices. We also begin the next session of Life Groups.

Choices – Our Easter Series

We all have choices to make, even in moments of pressure, intimidation, and misunderstanding. The life of Jesus challenged everyone who crossed his path to make a choice. There was no middle ground.

The Easter series also begins the next session of Life Groups. If you are interested in joining a group just contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

There are at present three groups that will be meeting in person. Here are the dates, times, and locations.

Sunday afternoons – Right after Church until 1:30 – Meeting at the Church
Monday nights from 7-9 pm – Meeting at the home of Dalton and Kim Harrisgreen.
Thursday nights from 7-9 pm – Meeting at the Church.

Again, if you are interested in a group please contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

Easter Services and Scheduling

This year we are planning special elements for each service as we take time to reflect and celebrate the hope we have in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We hope you will join us. The schedule is as follows:

April 10 – Palm Sunday service at 10:00 am
April 15 – Good Friday service at 10:00 am (Communion will be served)
April 17 – Easter Sunday service at 10:00 am

BUDGET FOR 2022-23

The last Sunday in March is typically the date set for our yearly congregational budget meeting. Last Sunday was the first time in two years we were able to hold this meeting in person. We are thankful to report that the budget for the new year which begins April 1st was overwhelmingly approved.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Royal View Church is once again hosting its presentation on the Stations of the Cross. This is a tactile interactive walkthrough of the holy week as seen from the perspective of the disciples.

It runs from April 11 to 14th from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. The event is free but you must reserve a time slot. Tickets are available starting this Sunday at Village Green or you can go to stationsofthecross.ca to get your tickets and book your time slot.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Over the last two years, many in our church experienced the loss of loved ones. What added to the heartbreak was that many were not allowed a memorial service due to Covid restrictions and limitations.

We have tentatively marked Sunday, June 12th as the date of a service specifically dedicated for those who have experienced the pain of loss. It will be an evening service where we gather together as a community for love and support. We are still in the planning stages as to the time and format of service and will update you as details become finalized.

WHY I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE PRAYER TEAM

If there is one ministry that often gets overlooked amidst the many ministries here at Village Green it is our prayer ministry. Not that they’ve ever complained or ever desired to be in the spotlight but I felt it necessary to take a moment and thank the many people who make up this vital ministry.

For years, Jennifer Paul has been the person to take all requests and send them out to our prayer team. She is presently away in Colombia visiting family and Paulette Schiestel has taken on the role most recently.

We, as a church, are incredibly blessed to have such a dedicated team of people who faithfully pray each and every day for the church and its ministries. Those of you reading this must know that at some point in the past or in the present, you have been prayed for. This is a team that dedicates itself to praying online and in person before every service. An elder takes the time to pray with the worship team and technical crew just before every service as well.

The vitality and consistency of our prayer team are one of the greatest blessings we have as a church and I want to personally acknowledge the many who are part of this team. We have felt your prayers, been blessed by your prayers, and have been touched by God because of your prayers. Thank you for holding all of us up before the throne of grace.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

As I close out this newsletter I want to say thank you to those who have given reviews and responses to my latest book, Touching God. I’m grateful that the book is resonating with people and helping them to understand prayer at a deeper level.

Again, if you are able to post a review to Amazon or Barnes and Noble, or any other medium I would deeply appreciate it.

Let’s be in prayer as we enter the month of April and the Easter season. May we see God’s handiwork throughout the activities of the month, especially as we gather as a church. I hope you will take the time to join us either in person or online.

Christ is Risen…He is Risen Indeed!

Blessings
Jon Korkidakis
