Village Green Newsletter – February 2026

Welcome to our latest newsletter. As we step into February, we are reminded that this is often a season caught between winter and spring, a time of waiting and hopeful expectation. It’s a fitting picture of the Christian life, where God continues to work even when growth isn’t yet visible. This month’s newsletter highlights the ways God is shaping our church community through worship, service, and life together. We pray these updates encourage you to stay connected, lean into community, and watch for the quiet but faithful ways God is at work among us.

FEBRUARY SCHEDULE

February 1, 8 – A reminder that February 1 is our monthly Communion service. We are also continuing our series, The Ripple Effect: How We Bless One Another, which ends the week of February 8.

We also want to remind you that on February 1, you will see a change to the format of our service. We will begin with two songs, followed by our Strategic Communication. The kids and youth will be dismissed following the Strategic time, instead of just before the message. This will balance the time we are together during worship and the time needed for teaching in Kids Connection and Youth. This change is on a trial basis and will be evaluated over time.

February 15 – We start a brand new series entitled, The Cross in Full View, a 5-part look at the cross during the season of Lent. The cross lies at the heart of the Christian faith and theology. Through it, we discover the richness of divine love and grace, while recognizing its profound necessity for atonement and forgiveness. In this series, we uncover the multifaceted nature of the cross, as it embodies the core beliefs of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope. The series runs from February 15 to March 15.

February 22 – You are warmly invited to a special time of prayer with the elders follwing the service from 12:00 to 2:00 pm in the auditorium. This is a safe and welcoming space where you can bring your concerns, burdens, and hopes—knowing they will be received with care, compassion, and complete confidentiality.

Whether you are seeking guidance, comfort, or simply someone to pray alongside you, our elders are honoured to listen and to lift your requests before God in a spirit of trust and privacy. You do not have to carry things alone; we would be glad to walk with you in prayer.

NOTE: Life Groups continue throughout the month of February.

NEW LIFE PRISON MINISTRIES

One of the ministries that we have a close relationship with, due to the number of people from Village Green who volunteer, is New Life Prison Ministries. Their biblical studies reach inmates with the message of Jesus and the hope they can find in him. They have seen incredible growth over the last year as this recent report illustrates.

We are excited to share that last year we received over 28,000 Bible study courses from students. This incredible number is a direct reflection of the love, care, and time you pour into responding to your students. In 2024, I believe we had scanned almost 17,000 courses, which is quite the increase! Great job keeping up.

Please continue to pray for this ministry as it reaches those who are incarcerated with the message of the Gospel. Thanks to the many at Village Green who serve this ministry and the impact they are having within our prisons.

INTRODUCING BASECAMP

Every journey begins somewhere—and at Village Green, that place is Base Camp. Base Camp is a welcoming luncheon designed for newcomers and anyone who wants to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and how you can find your place in our church community. Just like a base camp on a mountain, this is where you pause, get oriented, meet your guides, and discover the paths ahead.

At Base Camp, you’ll:
• Enjoy a relaxed lunch and meaningful conversation.
• Hear the story, vision, and values of our church.
• Meet pastors, leaders, and other members.
• Learn about ministries, Life Groups, and ways to serve
• Ask honest questions in a comfortable, pressure-free setting

You don’t have to have everything figured out to come—Base Camp is simply a place to begin. Whether you’re exploring faith, new to the church, or looking for a deeper connection, this is a safe and friendly starting point for the journey.

Join us at Base Camp—and discover where God may be inviting you to take your next step. We are scheduling our first Base Camp for April 19, with final details to come.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for the many who picked up my latest book, Revelation from 30,000 Feet: Reclaiming the Most Abused and Misused Book of the Bible. If you are able to take a moment and write a review on Amazon or any of the other platforms, I would greatly appreciate it. The reviews help to encourage others to pick up a copy if they are wondering if it would be worth the investment.

You can also check out the latest podcast on Theology Jam as Jon and Matthew discuss the process and content of the book. You can find Theology Jam on your favourite podcast platform but just in case, we have included a link here.

Thank you for partnering with us!
