Here is the schedule for individual dates in February.

February 4 – The first Sunday of the month is also when we celebrate Communion. As a reminder, we are now distributing the elements during the service. For those of you watching online, please prepare the Communion elements before hand if you want to participate.

February 25 – This is the date of our next Soup Sunday. Look for the sign-up sheets in the foyer and get ready to enjoy a great community experience.

WORSHIP GATHERING

On February 9, from 6-8 pm, everyone involved in Worship, Production, and Strategic Communication Teams are encouraged to come to worship together as well as share a meal and fellowship.

If you are interested in learning more about joining any one of these important ministries, you are invited to come, meet people, and ask questions. We would love to see you there.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

A new feature of these newsletters is regular updates on the financial picture at Village Green. We feel these updates will keep you aware on how your gifts to the church make a difference to the effectiveness of our ministries.

For the year 2023-2024, our monthly requirement for meeting budget is $23,750.00. Our budget year runs from April 1 to March 31, which means our present budget expires in a couple of months. Depending on the time of year, our offerings fluctuate considerably. For instance, we had a very strong December, with a total offering of $36,408.95, giving us a surplus for the month of $12,658.95.

It was one of the best December’s in terms of giving that we have experienced in quite some time. To put things in perspective, the months of September to December are often the strongest months for the offerings. To illustrate further, as of this writing, we had still a week left in the month of January and had received to date, $19,440.35, leaving us a shortfall of $4,309.65. The month is not done yet, but the post-December offerings are usually below budget.

As mentioned above, our budget year ends on March 31 and we are presently in the throes of budget deliberations. At this point, we are looking at the potential of a budget requirement for the year of $25,000 to $30,000 increase over last year, due to the increase in so many goods and services. A tension that we are all feeling in one way or another. We are still working through the final details but a budget will be presented to the congregation in March for the congregational meeting on April 7.

I hope this has helped to keep you informed and updated. If you have any questions, you can contact me at leadpastor@villagegreenchurch.com
