Welcome to this week’s update from Village Green Community Church. We have lots to tell you about so let’s get to it. Oh yeah, in case you forgot, it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday (May 10).
Leadership Retreat
This year, the Retreat will be conducted over a course of three online meetings on May 13, 20, and 27. It is an important time for the Elders, Board, and Staff to assess our ministries and create a strategic plan for the next year and more.
In light of the changes we are all experiencing, this year’s Retreat has added significance. As part of our Vision 2020, we began a process of determining what the church will need to have in place and in process in order to thrive for the next decade.
Prayer and Fasting for May
We are making the month of May a month of prayer and fasting. In these uncertain times, why not join with us in seeking the Lord’s will and blessing. As the Leadership meets this month, we appreciate your prayers in seeking guidance and direction from the Lord. Here are some suggestions for fasting. Suggestions for Fasting-VG

LINC Update
As announced last Sunday, the Thames Valley District School Board’s LINC program will not be returning in September. This puts an end to a 15 year partnership that the church has enjoyed with the program. Many factors contributed to their move.
Please take time to pray for the teachers and child care workers. They will be given new placements in other schools but those assignments have not been confirmed as of yet.
Revised Budget
Following the Leadership Retreat we will be presenting a revised budget to reflect the changing financial picture due to LINC’s decision.
Life Groups
We are coming into the mid-point of our online groups. Here are a few items of interest:
- This session of Life Groups ends the 2nd week of June. We normally break for the summer and restart our groups in September. Some have asked whether groups can continue, considering its a vital connection for many people who don’t want to feel further isolated over the summer. If you are a Group leader, please ask if your group would like to continue past the June break. You can let the office know what your group decides.
- Please consider exercising some form of etiquette during the online groups. One way of minimizing distractions is muting your microphone if you are not speaking. Avoid other distracting behaviours like eating chips as one way of making the group enjoyable for all.
- If you are a group leader please make sure you take attendance. It’s really important during this season to have a clear picture of how many are engaged in Life Groups. You can grab the attendance link here.
Ways to Give
A reminder that you can now use envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church, as well as the PayPal portal on our website: villagegreenchurch.com. You can also drop off your offerings through the mail slot at the church. It is checked on a regular basis.
We also want to thank you for your faithfulness in giving to the church. We are so blessed by your generosity and the lives that it impacts.
Messages on CD
We recognize that some do not have access to the internet or to our live stream on Sunday. We are now making available the messages and/or series on CD. If you know someone who would benefit from this option please let the office know.
How to Study the Bible – Now into Week 5!
