November Newsletter – Village Green Community Church

Welcome to the November newsletter. November invites us to slow down, reflect, and recognize the many ways God continues to work in our lives. As the colours of autumn fade and the days grow shorter, we are reminded that every season has its own beauty, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Even when life feels uncertain or we find ourselves navigating difficult circumstances, God remains faithful, offering grace, wisdom, and hope for the journey ahead.

At Village Green, we continue Exploring Life together, discovering what it means to follow Jesus in the everyday realities of our lives. My hope this November is that we will take time to notice God’s goodness, extend kindness to those around us, and find new ways to encourage one another along the way.

November 1, 8, 15, and 21 – For the first four weeks of November we will be continuing our series, Fingerprints of God: God, Creation, and the Wonder of Love. Life Groups continue but this session ends at the conclusion of the series. Life Groups will resume again in January of the New Year!

November 1 – There is a number of significant things happening on the first Sunday of November. Firstly, it is our monthly Communion service.

Secondly, it is also the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Please join us in Overflow at 9 AM as we learn more about the persecuted church around the world and spend some time praying before the morning service.

Thirdly, Daylight Savings Ends so please remember to set your clocks back one hour.

So, make sure to set those clocks so you are not late for the morning prayer time for the persecuted church and for the Sunday service!

And lastly, the Village Green Choir is back this Christmas! Rehearsals will be Sundays at 4:00-5:30pm starting on November 1st. The final performance date will be Sunday, December, 20th. November 15 – Save the date for our next Soup Sunday! Sign-ups will be in the foyer a couple of weeks before the 15th so please remember to add your name if you’re bringing a soup.

November 29 – The fifth Sunday of a month is when we schedule our Celebration Services and November is no exception. Celebration Sunday is a special opportunity to pause, look back, and give thanks for all that God has been doing in and through our church family. We’ll celebrate stories of faith, moments of growth, answered prayers, and the ways God continues to lead us into the future.

We celebrate baptisms, memberships, ministry milestones, and many more expressions of God’s transforming work. To take the next step in your spiritual journey or for more information, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

A NEW WAY TO CONNECT

A black and white QR code design with a central star-like symbol.

You will notice in the Life Group notes a single QR code. This single code will take you to all the different blogs, newsletters, social media, livestreams, and other connection links related to the church.

This will simplify the many links we have as a church by having them in one easy-to-access location. Look for this QR code to show up in more locations soon.

THEOLOGY JAM

Our recent 4-Part series on Women in Ministry is one of our most popular series to date. Thank you for the reception it got. We continue to bring more thought-provoking content, as we recently interviewed Denise Nussbaum, on the relationship between faith and trauma and the work she is doing to help survivors of the wildfires on her home island of Maui. More great interviews are coming but if you have a comment, or a topic for us to discuss simply email us at theologyjam@gmail.com.

COMING – A NEW WEBSITE

Our present website has existed for almost 10 years, and though it has served us well, it is time to give it a new look. We are in the early stages of development but we will certainly let you know when the new site becomes live.

COMING IN JANUARY!

Back by popular demand is the course, Understanding the Bible: From Context to Application. This course was first offered at the beginning of the year and many were not able to sign up, so we are offering the course again.

The January session will introduce our Lunch and Learn time slot of Sunday from 12:00-2:00 pm. Stay after church, grab a lunch and come learn the Bible from start to finish. The cost is $75.00 with full notes, PowerPoints, and other resources included.

Sign up sheets will be available in mid-November. We are also looking at potentially livestreaming the course if we can get all the technical requirements in place. Stay tuned for further updates.

MOVING INTO NOVEMBER

As we move through November toward the close of another year, may we resist the temptation to let the busyness of life crowd out the things that matter most. Make room for gratitude, take time to connect with someone who may need encouragement, and look for opportunities to reflect the love of Christ in practical ways.

Remember that we do not explore life alone. We belong to a community of faith where we can ask questions, share our burdens, celebrate our joys, and grow together in our understanding of God’s purposes.

May God give you eyes to recognize his goodness, hearts ready to serve, and a renewed sense of hope for whatever lies ahead. As we continue Exploring Life together, may we become increasingly attentive to God’s presence and increasingly generous in sharing his love with others.

With gratitude and blessings to you and your family this November.
