Village Green Update – September 24, 2020

Welcome to this week’s update. September is not only the month that sees schools reopen, it’s also the beginning of a new ministry season for the church. With that in mind, here are some noteworthy items to keep you informed.

Our Leadership Team

September is the month where the Board reconvenes and new Board members are introduced. We thought it would be good to introduce you to those who are serving on the Board for the 2020-2021 season. They help to make critical decisions, everything from ministry initiatives to financial, so they are members to keep in prayer as this is a difficult season with many responsibilities. They Board consists of the following individuals.

Al Vanderlaan – Board Chair
Jarred Curtis
Renee Alcox
Steve Ruddach
Ashley Zietsma
Dave Hekman
Krista Allen
Brenda Brown

Life Groups

Where God’s love and God’s truth converge

We’ve begun our series entitled B/Right Living looking at the Book of 1 John. The series will run until October 25th. It’s never too late to join a group so if you still want to join, simply contact the office at info@villagegreenchurch.com

We offer online and in-person Life Groups. We are including the protocols in case your group is meeting at the church so be sure to grab them here. Protocols-for-Study-Groups-at-VG-1Download

Lastly, maybe you are not able to be part of a group this time around. Why not do the studies, either on your own, or with someone else? Digging deeper into God’s Word is never wasted.

Fall Infinity Youth Plans!

A reminder that the Fall launch will be at YFC Youth Centre at 254 Adelaide St S and will include games, campfire, and snacks. The event is from 6:45 to 8:45 pm. For questions, please call the church office at office@villagegreenchurch.com. Below is the rest of the schedule for October.

October 13 – Games/Bible study – Village Green parking lot
October 20 – Event – Village Green parking lot
October 27 – Pumpkin painting/Bible study – Village Green parking lot

Our 50th Anniversary

The month of November marks our 50th year as a church. The theme for the month will be Faithful God: Faithful People. It will be a month of special interviews and remembrances that come with 50 years of faithful ministry. The last Sunday of the month (the 29th) is scheduled as a Celebration Sunday. If you are looking to be baptized, dedicate children or come into membership, please contact the office and we will follow up with your request.

Re-Gathering Protocols

We also have a document listing the protocols for our Sunday morning gatherings. For a full list of our protocols you can grab them here: VG-Re-Gathering Protocols 2020.

Two Updates from Pastor Jon

A number of you have been asking about the Monday night studies. The new session will begin on Monday, October 19th, and run for 7 weeks ending on Monday, November 30th. The session will look at the 7 chapters of the Bible everyone should know and understand. They are critical to understanding the over-arching narrative and primary message that makes up the Bible. I hope you will plan to join us.

Also, I am purging my library and am making it available to you. Around the end of September, you will be able to come to the church (at a pre-scheduled time) and peruse the books and take what you need. There is a wide variety of resources to choose from. Again, once those resources have been organized I will let you know when they will become available.

Give!

There are three primary ways to give to the church:

  1. Drop off your offering at the church, either through the mailbox during the week or in the basket when entering the service on Sunday morning.
  2. Go to our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com, and use the Give button on the top-right menu bar. There is also a Give bottom in the footer menu of the website as well. The Give button will take you to our PayPal portal.
  3. You can also give by using envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt.

Blessings;
Jon Korkidakis

Jon, having the questions for the Life Groups ready early is a god-send! Many thanks. For those who do not have computers or printers, I can hand them out at this afternoon’s meeting. Thatt way, we’ll all be working from the same page! Hurray!
