Village Green Update – September 17, 2020

Welcome to another week and another update from Village Green Community Church. We have some important updates and notes of encouragement that I think will be a blessing for you. Hope you take a moment to read and stay connected.

A RESET Reminder

We concluded our RESET series last Sunday and looked biblically at what it teaches during times of incredible disruption. The conclusion of the message was a challenge to adopt five habits. These will not only strengthen your personal walk, but build greater community. They are:

  1. Establish a Sunday morning routine
  2. Commit to Life Groups – and be creative!
  3. Keep your kids and youth connected
  4. Pray – To adapt, influence, engage, and connect
  5. Share the value / Be the church

If you missed the message you can catch it here:

Life Groups Start the Week of September 20th

When the truth of God and the love of God converge!

We begin a new series on the 20th as we kick off another season of Life Groups. We will be starting a series entitled B/Right Living looking at the Book of 1 John. The series will run for 6 weeks. If you want to be part of a Life Group simply contact the office at info@villagegreenchurch.com

Remember, you can join certain groups via online platforms so don’t miss out on this opportunity to dig deeper into biblical truths. We are also including the protocols in case your group is meeting at the church so be sure to grab them here. Protocols-for-Study-Groups-at-VG-1Download

Our 50th Anniversary

The month of November marks our 50th year as a church. The theme for the month will be Faithful God: Faithful People. It will be a month of special interviews and remembrances that come with 50 years of faithful ministry. The last Sunday of the month (the 29th) is scheduled as a Celebration Sunday. If you are looking to be baptized, dedicate children or come into membership, please contact the office and we will follow up with your request.

Re-Gathering Protocols

We also have a document listing the protocols for our Sunday morning gatherings. For a full list of our protocols you can grab them here: VG-Re-Gathering Protocols 2020.

Two Updates from Pastor Jon

A number of you have been asking about the Monday night studies. The new session will begin on Monday, October 19th and run for 7 weeks ending on Monday, November 30th. The session will look at the 7 chapters of the Bible everyone should know and understand. They are critical to understanding the over-arching narrative and primary message that makes up the Bible. I hope you will plan to join us.

Also, I am purging my library and am making it available to you. Around the end of September you will be able to come to the church (at a pre-scheduled time) and peruse the books and take what you need. There is a wide variety of resources to choose from. Again, once those resources have been organized I will let you know when they will become available.

New Doors

Last week we had new sliding doors installed in the rear of the auditorium. In the past, when you entered our building from the side door and wanted to go directly into the auditorium the doors created congestion and difficulty, especially for anyone in walkers or wheelchairs. These new sliding doors have removed the problem and now allow for easy access to the room.

Give!

One of our Vision statements is simply, Give! We acknowledge that as believers, we are called to be people of generosity. We thought we would give you a brief update of our offerings to date as compared with the same time frame last year. (Our budget year begins in April)

April to August 2019April to August 2020
Offerings$98,348.32$107,619.08
Benevolence$3,851.35$3,891.00
Congregational giving comparison – April to August.

We are encouraged by the faithful giving of so many in the church and for your continued support during this difficult season. Our benevolent offerings have also given us the ability to help many individuals and organizations who have been adversely affected.

A reminder that you can now use envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt. We also have a PayPal portal on our website: villagegreenchurch.com. You can also drop off your offerings through the mail slot at the church. It is checked on a regular basis.

Blessings;
Jon Korkidakis
