Fleming’s Update

Fleming’s Update

To our friends,

We have wanted to ask you to pray for us and have waited until we knew something specific and finally, we have it. To those who have been asking questions like, “Where are you now?”, and “When are you going back to Japan?”, thanks for asking! We would have responded sooner if we had an answer to both questions. To the first, we are still in Waterloo, Ontario. Nearly 6 months ago, we were planning a May return to Japan. It seems like years ago actually. We can now say that we are returning to Japan in two stages if all goes well!

Rob has a ticket to Tokyo dated September 11. Please pray that he would be able to jump through the Covid-19 hoops and get to Japan. He needs a Covid test with a quick negative result and a flight that is not canceled. Kathryn and Julia are hoping to join Rob in Early October. Julia is studying online for the fall semester and wants to go home to Japan.

Initially, we will quarantine for two weeks in Hitachinaka, the city we lived in pre-Tokyo. We are familiar with this area of Japan, and unlike recently hard-hit greater Tokyo it has virtually no Covid-19 cases.  We make plans and then God reveals what He wants us to do?

We plan to stay in Hitachinaka indefinitely and work toward initiating Bible studies with friends/contacts we already know from years spent living there. Please pray that we would be bold enough to ask and that God would provide open hearts as we become sowers with the expectation of a quick harvest!

Like so many of you in these pandemic days, we have an uncertain future ahead of us. Please pray that God would use the uncertainty in Japan for His glory and that we would get to see a special harvest in the next year.

We return to Japan thankful for His provision of our needs and thankful to all of you who continue to give sacrificially and pray unceasingly.

In His comforting hands,

Rob and Kathryn Fleming.
