Welcome to the November 2021 issue of the Village green newsletter. There are a number of important notes and updates for this upcoming month and the next.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7th!
There are a number of things happening on the first Sunday in November.
The clocks “fall back” an hour on Saturday evening so make sure you do not miss the change in time.
Sunday is the “International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church”. There will be a guided prayer time in the overflow room at 9:00 am as well as a link to participate via the live stream. This is an important day for remembering the millions of believers around the world who are suffering and being persecuted for their faith.
It is also our Communion service. For those attending in person, we have pre-packaged wafers and cups that you can pick up as you enter the auditorium. For those watching through our live stream, we are asking that you prepare the elements beforehand if you like to participate from home.
We continue to see more and more people attending in person on Sunday mornings. In light of this, we want to remind you of the following guidelines as mandated by the government.
- Masks are required throughout the duration of the service
- We must still maintain physical distancing of 6 ft. Please ensure you are maintaining proper distancing at all times. This includes entering and exiting the building, as well as when you are seated.
- Closed groups or bubbles are allowed to be together without adhering to the 6 ft. rule.
- Congregating in the auditorium after the service is problematic so we are asking that any visitation with others is done outside of the building.
Please be mindful of these protocols as we want people to be able to come to church and feel safe in doing so. Remember, we do have an overflow space where the service is live-streamed.
COMING NOVEMBER 28th
My Christmas Wish
Christmas has a way of either exposing our inner child or our inner grinch. Regardless, Christmas, when viewed through the lens of God’s love, becomes a season filled with wonder.
Join us as we once again light the advent candles as we countdown and anticipate the arrival of the baby in the manger.
Heritage Worship Team
We will also have the Heritage College worship team leading us on that Sunday. It will be an opportunity for our team to have a break and be ministered to as well.
NEW DIRECTORY COMING SOON
Our new congregational directory will soon be making its way into your inboxes. If you have not yet contacted the office to be included there is still time to do so. Contact the church at email@example.com to have your name included or to update us with new information.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
We will be having an in-person service this year starting at 6:30 pm as well as the live stream. If you want to attend in person you must register with the office. The start date for reserving your space will be Monday, December 6th at 10:00 am. This will be a first come first serve situation and we will be reserving spots in the auditorium as needed.
When we have reached capacity in the auditorium (respecting physical distancing requirements), we will begin to reserve spots in the overflow and other rooms depending on the demand. You can contact the church at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 519-473-5505.
If you are participating in the service, your spot will already be reserved so you do not have to contact the office.
We have been working hard behind the scenes to improve the quality of our Sunday morning services, especially the quality of the live stream. I would be interested in hearing your comments, whether you have noticed any improvements, or what you think would make the live stream even better.
If you are a regular to the live stream we would love you to answer one question for us. What device do you watch the live stream on? A phone, tablet, TV, computer? This will help us determine the best way of mixing the live stream so that it gives you the best quality while viewing the service. You can contact me at email@example.com. Thanks for helping us out.
Here is a list of other reminders and updates:
Life Group Suggestion
In light of the upcoming day where we remember the persecuted church, why not make it a regular part of your Life Group’s prayer time? There are approximately fifty countries that are listed as dangerous for believers. Let us remember often those who are in chains or in prison for the sake of the Gospel.
Don’t forget the podcast hosted by myself and Matthew Burkholder. The most recent podcast is a solo one where I introduce my new book, Touching God: Discovering Prayer that Moves the Heart of God. I am anticipating an early 2022 release date.
Why Do I Feel Like This?
Back in late August/early September, we did a three-part series on how the pandemic is affecting our health and well-being. We brought in industry experts and the series received many positive reviews. We now have just the interviews available on our YouTube page in case you want to review or share them with others who would be helped by the content of the interviews. You can find them here on our YouTube page.
Lastly, please take the time to share and like our content whenever possible. It helps us to reach more people and to have a greater impact for the kingdom of God.
Thankful for each of you who make Village Green home and for your continued support and encouragement. May you be richly blessed this month! Jon Korkidakis
