Welcome to the May newsletter for Village Green Community Church. As usual, there are a lot of updates and news for you as we look forward to another exciting month ahead.
MAY SCHEDULE
May 5 – This is our Communion Sunday for May. This is also the closing message for the Hearing Jesus series.
May 12 – June 9 – Starting on May 12 we begin a 5-part series, Navigating the Wilderness. The series will focus on the fact that we are living in a time of incredible social upheaval. Changes are happening so quickly that we barely have time to adjust before another new wave is upon us. For many, it has created a deep sense of disorientation. How do we navigate the wilderness we find ourselves in?
We hope you plan on joining us for this inspirational series. It will also conclude our Life Group session before the summer break (the series and groups conclude the week of June 9). Groups will reform again in September.
CAN YOU HELP US?
On May 25, we are having our annual Leadership Retreat. It is a day when the Elders, Board of Directors, and Staff gather together to strategize for the year ahead. In preparation for that meeting, I am asking for some input from you! This input is critically important for us to discern our strengths and our weaknesses. Here is how you can help.

Remember, your input is vitally important for helping us determine what we do best and how we can become even better as a church. DAY CAMPS
It’s that time of year to register the kids for Day Camp. We are hosting two camps this year, Forest Cliff and Adullum. Forest Cliff is running the week of July 8 to July 12. Adullum is running the week of July 29 to August 2.

Village Green is once again offering subsidies. If you are interested in applying for a subsidy, please contact the church to receive a Request Form at office@villagegreenchurch.com. The camps have already started to fill up so please do not wait to submit your request.
NEW DIRECTORY
Can you answer this riddle? What takes an inordinate amount of time and effort, is a job that is filled with frustration, and is out-of-date the minute you produce it. You guessed it – the church directory.
Though it is a challenge, we are venturing into producing an updated directory since a number of you have asked for it. This is one of those tasks that has so many moving pieces so we really need your help in making this go as smoothly and stress-free as possible.
If you have any updates to your profile (Name, address, phone numbers, or have never been in it) since 2022, please contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com, with the updates so we can get the updated information into the directory.
BASEBALL
Baseball season is fast approaching. If you are interested in playing on the team here at Village Green, please contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com and we will connect you.
We will publish the schedule when it is made available and you will be able to find it on the church website and in the next installment of our newsletter and weekly email blast.
SUMMER PICNICS
Coming this summer is our Bring Your Own Picnics. They will be on Sundays following the morning services.
The first one will be on June 30, as part of our Canada Day celebration. We will release the schedule with dates, times, and addresses as soon as it becomes available. These are great community-building opportunities as well as times for connecting with one another.
PLANNING THE CALENDAR FOR FALL AND BEYOND!
At the end of June, I will be going on my 2-week Spiritual Retreat where I plan the preaching calendar for September 2024 to August 2025. As many of you know, having the calendar of messages a year in advance helps us to stay current, while providing everyone with the information they need to plan worship, study materials, and other resources going forward.
I do already have the basic shell of the series in September that will kick off the Fall session of Life Groups (Starting September 15). It will focus on the spiritual disciplines.
