Village Green Newsletter – January 2022 Edition

A Brand New Year!

Happy New Year and welcome to the first newsletter of 2022. We pray that you had a wonderful Christmas holiday celebrating and experiencing the hope, peace, joy, and love of Jesus. We have a number of exciting things happening as we venture into January so make sure to take time and get caught up on all the happenings here at Village Green.

Our First Sunday Back – January 2

Tomorrow is our first service after the holiday break and we want to remind you that it is a Communion service as well. Sunday, As a reminder, for those attending in person, we have pre-packaged wafers and cups that you can pick up as you enter the auditorium. For those watching through our live stream, we are asking that you prepare the elements beforehand if you like to participate from home.

The message for January 2nd is entitled One Question. As a new year begins, it is not only a time to reflect but also a time to look forward to the year with hopeful anticipation, despite the struggles of the past two years. We will be introducing one question that will help you make better decisions that will lead to better outcomes and a better year overall.

New Series and Life Groups Begin January 9

Crossroads Series – Starting Jan 9, 2022

Standing at a crossroads is the place that demands a decision. Do I go left, or do I stay right? When it comes to matters of faith and belief, there are questions that will force us to stand at a crossroads. Do I let them destroy any belief in God or do I learn from it and grow a deeper faith? Join us for this challenging six-part series either in-person or through our Livestream.

The next session of Life Groups will start the same week as the Crossroads sermon series. If you are interested in leading, hosting, or being part of a group please contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com

Youth

January 9th will also be the startup of a new youth Bible study for grades 6 -12. It will be held during the morning service and will run every 2 weeks. Also, the startup date for the weekday youth gatherings is Tuesday, January 4th. Mark your calendars accordingly.

New Release Coming January 2022

Pastor Jon’s new book, Touching God: Discovering Prayer that Moves the Heart of God will be available in early January 2022.

Prayer is an important discipline, yet for many, it can either be confusing, intimidating or not well understood. On a popular level, prayer is commonly seen as a means to an end-asking and receiving from God. In Touching God, you will learn that prayer is meant for so much more. This book will transform your prayer life from spiritual duty to one that will touch the very heart of God.

Making a Difference

As we enter a new year we are also entering a season where the church is making decisions that will impact the future and our effectiveness for touching lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We recently received a financial gift from a viewer in Calgary which included this note: “Thank you for your online services. It is such a gift.” This was a timely reminder that we are making a difference at a time when hope is waning in the lives of many.

Some of the decisions are related to our finances. We are in need of a new Worship Coordinator and our building is in need of a new roof and repairs to our parking lots. The Board has approved the expenditure for a new Coordinator but they are assessing the facility needs carefully. Please be in prayer as they formulate the new budget.

We appreciate very much your faithful giving as you partner with us here at Village Green. Here are the ways you can help us to continue making a difference.

1. Drop off your offering at the church in the basket when entering service on Sunday mornings. You can also simply drop off your offering in the mailbox at the church.
2. Use the following link to go to the Giving Page on our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com.
3. You can give through e-transfer by going to envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com. please make sure your address is up to date and on file if you use this option.

Thanks again for helping us Love God, Love Others and Change the World.
Until next time,
May God richly bless you and your family as we enter 2022!

Jon Korkidakis
