This Week at Village Green – March 12, 2021

Welcome once again to our weekly blog that hopefully helps to keep you informed with all that is happening at Village Green Community Church!

Before we go any further we want to highlight a key characteristic in the Christian faith. What is it? Patience! As believers, we are admonished to be people who demonstrate the virtue of patience. Though it is not an easy characteristic to foster, it is so appreciated when its beauty rises to the top in moments when you would expect otherwise.

All of that to say this. Thank you dear church for your patience. Our live stream went down again last week, and even though everything was purring along it rattled every ounce of patience when it suddenly slipped into oblivion. Frankly, the piece of equipment that misbehaved did so without warning or reason.

What was equally disturbing was that it went down during the message, and working perfectly fine before and after. Mmmmmm?

The closing message of this series is this Sunday. Don’t miss it.

Regardless, as frustrating as it is all around, we do appreciate your patience. We’ve included a link to the message in case you missed it and if you’re not too busy this week, could you pray that we don’t have another technological mishap this Sunday, or ever again! Thanks so much.

Daylight Savings Time

Spring is almost here!

This Sunday (March 14), the clock’s “spring” ahead ONE hour. Make sure you set your clocks because we would hate to miss you at church on Sunday. I know you may be groggy, but we would hate for you to miss the closing message of our Elijah series.

Coming March 21st

The March 21st Sunday service is an important one because we will be giving an update from our Leadership Visioning Day with our special guest, Board Chair, Al Vanderlaan. You don’t want to miss this Sunday as we share some exciting news with you all.

The Gathering!

Also on March 21st, we are introducing a new initiative known as The Gathering. If you want to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, or just see people you haven’t seen in a while then this is just what you’ve been looking for.

There is no agenda and no real expectations except to say this is a time to be together and enjoy building community. It’s a virtual experience meant to keep us connected and engaged in the lives of others.

It will immediately follow the morning service and run from 11:15 – 12:00. Contact the office at office@villagegreenchurch.com to have your name added to The Gathering.

The Book of Acts

Join us Mondays at 7:00 pm EST.

We continue our study in the Book of Acts this Monday, March 15th. The time of each study will be at 7:00 pm EST and will run for 12 weeks. The hour-long series will run on YouTube and you can grab the link and notes at www.jkorkidakis.com. You will find them under the “YouTube Series” tab and then the page for “The Book of Acts.” We are into week #2, Chapters 1-2.

It’s Budget Time

The new budget for the 2021-2022 ministry year is now available. If you would like a copy you can contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com.

A Big Thank You!

We want to take the time to acknowledge a volunteer who has recently given above and beyond for the church. Jeff Brown has recently done some renovations to our Media Room which needed baffles and other acoustic treatments in order to improve the overall sound in the room.

Many of you would have heard the significant improvement in audio quality when we recently interviewed Ben Brown a couple of Sundays ago (we were keeping it all in the family). We’ve included a couple of pictures to give you some idea of the amount of work Jeff put into the project.

Thanks so much Jeff for helping us continue to bring excellence to the ministry of Village green Church. Your efforts are so appreciated.

Nominations

It is the time of year when we begin the process of considering new people for leadership roles in the church. This year, we are looking to add to the Board of Elders. If you want to submit a name for consideration, you can do so by contacting the Elders at elders@villagegreenchurch.com

Life Groups – Next Session

This is the last week for this session of Life Groups. The next session begins on April 11th and will run until the week of June 13th.

God works in mysterious ways

We will begin a new 5-part series on April 11th entitled Things God Uses. God uses key things to grow us and make us aware of his working in our lives. Some are natural and obvious, while others come in unexpected places and times. Join us as we learn how to witness God working in our lives, especially at a time when many are wondering if he’s even there.
