This Week at Village Green-April 2, 2021 (Good Friday Edition)

Welcome to the Good Friday edition of this week’s newsletter. In just an hour from now, our Good Friday service will be live-streamed at 10:00 am so hope you are planning to join us online. As a reminder, we will be hosting Communion so please have the elements ready if you want to participate.

This Sunday is Easter, the most significant day on the Christian calendar. The service will be in-person and live-streamed as well and the service starts at our usual time of 10 am.

As many of you know, the government just implemented a 15% restriction for in-person religious services so that means we can allow 45 into our auditorium. At present we are very close to capacity.

New Kids Connection Hours

Starting this Sunday, Kids Connection online has a new time slot from 9:15-9:45 am. The link will be sent in the Saturday newsletter that each family receives, so make sure you grab the new link.

Welcome Praxis Church

This Sunday is also the first time that Praxis Church begins meeting in our building. Their services will run on Sunday evenings beginning at 5:00 pm. We are excited to have our building being utilized in a way that helps others gather in the Name of Jesus.

LCFI (London Christian Fellowship Int.) will also have their monthly gathering on Sunday so it will be a full day of celebrating the Resurrection with Village Green in the morning, LCFI in the afternoon, and Praxis in the evening.

New Series and Next Session of Life Groups

We will begin a new 5-part series on April 11th entitled Things God Uses. God uses key things to grow us and make us aware of his working in our lives. Some are natural and obvious, while others come in unexpected places and times. Join us as we learn how to witness God working in our lives, especially at a time when many are wondering if he’s even there.

The next session of Life Groups begins on April 11th and will run until the week of June 13th. If you want to learn more about our Life Groups or sign up, you can do so by contacting us at

Options for Giving

The month of April signals a new budget year. Though all the accounting has yet to come in, it appears we met our budget for the 2020-21 year (or even have a surplus!). Our March offerings were very strong and it appears many of you have responded to the challenge to give more if possible. For that, we are truly grateful for all of you as you continue to support the church in practical ways.

1. Drop off your offering at the church, either in the mailbox at the front entrance or in the basket when entering service on Sunday mornings (When physical meetings are allowed).
2. Use the following link to go to the Giving Page on our website,
3. You can give through e-transfer by going to please make sure your address is up to date and on file if you use this option.

It’s Friday but…

Here is an Easter meditation by S.M. Lockridge (1913-2000), who was pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego from 1953 to 1993. It is one of my favorites during the Easter season and I hope it blesses you today!

It’s Friday
Jesus is praying
Peter’s a sleeping
Judas is betraying
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
Pilate’s struggling
The council is conspiring
The crowd is vilifying
They don’t even know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd
Mary’s crying
Peter is denying
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s a comin’

It’s Friday
The Romans beat my Jesus
They robe him in scarlet
They crown him with thorns
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
See Jesus walking to Calvary
His blood dripping
His body stumbling
And his spirit’s burdened
But you see, it’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The world’s winning
People are sinning
And evil’s grinning

It’s Friday
The soldiers nail my Savior’s hands
To the cross
They nail my Savior’s feet
To the cross
And then they raise him up
Next to criminals

It’s Friday
But let me tell you something
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are questioning
What has happened to their King
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming
Has been achieved
But they don’t know
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
He’s hanging on the cross
Feeling forsaken by his Father
Left alone and dying
Can nobody save him?
It’s Friday
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The earth trembles
The sky grows dark
My King yields his spirit

It’s Friday
Hope is lost
Death has won
Sin has conquered
and Satan’s just a laughin’

It’s Friday
Jesus is buried
A soldier stands guard
And a rock is rolled into place

But it’s Friday
It is only Friday
Sunday is a comin’!

Yes, Sunday is coming
See you next week, so until then, stay safe and stay healthy!
