May Newsletter Highlights: Village Green Community Church

As we step into May, we’re reminded that this season is one of growth, renewal, and fresh beginnings.

This past month has been filled with meaningful moments, times of worship, connection, and service. As we look ahead, we do so in anticipation for what God will continue to do among us. May brings new opportunities to gather, to encourage one another, and to live out our faith in real and practical ways.

In this edition, you’ll find updates on upcoming events, ways to get involved, and stories that reflect God’s faithfulness in our midst. May we continue to walk together in unity, growing deeper in Christ and extending His love to those around us.

MAY SCHEDULE

May 3 – 31 – Throughout the month of May, we continue our series on Peter: Portrait of a Transformed Life.

Our Sermon-Based Life Groups are also continuing in May as we collectively gather and learn each week the lessons gleaned from the life of Peter. His transformation is a powerful illustration of faith, despite his human impulsiveness and moments of failure.

May 3 – This is our regular monthly Communion Service.

May 10 – Mother’s Day. We are planning something special!

May 31 – Celebration Service. If you are wanting to be baptized, come into membership, or dedicate your family, this is the service where we celebrate these spiritual milestones and more. If you want to take the next step in your journey of faith, contact the church at office@villagegreenchurch.com to start your journey.

CLOSING THOUGHTS – THANKFULNESS AND A BIG ASK!

I want to give a shout out to those who remembered to pray for our Annual Leadership Retreat on April 25th. It was a day of reviewing where God has brought us and how we feel the Spirit is directing us for the year ahead. As a church, we are beyond our 80% capacity which presents a number of challenges so your prayers were deeply appreciated.

I recently received a letter from Bruin, who we baptized in a Celebration Service back in June of last year. Shortly after, Bruin was arrested and is presently incarcerated awaiting trial. Most churches would have written him off but not Village Green, as many have been in contact and many continue to pray for him. He wrote the following in a letter that I received recently.

“Village Green Church is my family and I am so blessed to have all your support and having the elders pray for me…I am beyond thankful, you guys welcomed me with open arms…” “Me and another believer…started a Bible group and right now we have 4-5 people who come and listen to us preach the good Word! I have shared my testimony with others and some started crying and asked me if I could baptize them!”

Bruin is being used of God in a place where many of us would never have an opportunity to impact others, yet what he received at Village Green, in terms of acceptance and the love of Christ, is fueling his experience in jail. He is leaning into his faith in Jesus and not his present circumstances. And yes, Village Green had a significant impact on this young man’s life. Please continue to pray for him.

Lastly, I will soon be going on my annual Spiritual Retreat in mid-June where I put together the preaching calendar and scheduling of events for the church year. In preparation for this time away, I like to ask if there is a topic or a series you would like to hear? Just email me your suggestions at leadpastor@villagegreenchurch.com. I can make no promises that your suggestions will make it onto the calendar, but I can promise you that they will be taken seriously and prayed over.

Thanks again for being a part of Village Green, a church that explores life through the way of Jesus!
May you be richly blessed throughout the month of May.
