Village Green Update – August 27, 2020

Welcome to another week and another update from Village Green Community Church.

Re-Gathering

Just a reminder that if you want to begin attending live services you need to make the office aware of your intention to attend at office@villagegreenchurch.com. If you have already signed up, our assumption is that you will continue to come unless you communicate otherwise to the main office. Remember that doors will open at 9:45 am.

As we begin the slow transition of re-gathering we are asking that you take time and pray for our services, especially that guidelines will be respected in order to keep everyone safe. For a full list of our protocols you can grab them here: VG-Re-Gathering Protocols 2020.

Your Story, Our Church!

Last week we read Amelia Husnik’s testimony as part of our Your Story-Our Church series. You can grab the link and read her story below:

We would love to hear from you. Answer either question – How has Village Green blessed you during this time, or, What has God been teaching you during this time?

If you are open to sharing your story, you can send it to jonkorkidakis@villagegreenchurch.com

Infinity Youth

Coming September 1st is Infinity Youth’s “Summer Connect Movie Night.” Held in the parking lot of the church there will be popcorn, pizza, drinks, and of course, a movie (which is being kept a secret until you get there)!

The event is from 7:30 to 10:30 so bring a lawn chair and a friend and join us for a fun night of re-connecting and relaxing.

Communion

Next Sunday, September 6, is our next Communion service. If you want to participate online please be prepared with the elements for your family.

For those who will be in service physically, you will need to pick up the Communion elements as you enter the building. We have individually sealed units for each person in attendance.

Life Groups, Bible Study Groups, and Youth Groups

In our next newsletter, we will be releasing the protocols for all our small group formats. This will particularly be focused upon any groups physically meeting in the building. As a point of clarity, we are encouraging all groups to adopt a hybrid format, where both physical and virtual engagement in a group is an option.

Something for You to Consider

There is a lot of noise in the online and media world concerning churches and the decisions revolving opening and/or closing. Village Green has also had to make decisions for reasons that benefit our particular situation and congregation.

With that in mind, I want to encourage you to listen to Andy Stanley’s August 16th message, Not In It To Win It. Andy is the Lead Pastor of North Point Ministries in Atlanta Georgia, one of the largest churches in the US.

They recently announced that they would not be opening their churches for physical gatherings until 2021 at the earliest. In his August 16th message, he explains and defends the reasons for their decision.

So why am I encouraging you to check it out? Because it is one of the best presentations that gives solid Scriptural reasoning. Secondly, it aligned so well with the decisions our Elders have made in the cautious way we have addressed our own situation.

This is obviously given from an American context, but the major points are easily transferable. You can grab the YouTube link here

Give!

One of our vision statements is simply: GIVE. Many of you are demonstrating a heart of generosity during a very difficult time and just wanted to say thank you for your continued financial support of the work here at Village Green.

A reminder that you can now use envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church. If you do use this option, please make sure we have an address on file so we know where to send the receipt. We also have a PayPal portal on our website: villagegreenchurch.com. You can also drop off your offerings through the mail slot at the church. It is checked on a regular basis.

Blessings;
Jon Korkidakis
