This Week at Village Green – January 29, 2021

How do you know it’s Friday? When another addition of the Village Green blog shows up in your inbox! As always, this week’s edition is filled with key updates and news to keep you up to date and informed. Enjoy!

Moving Forward Together

Thank you to those who were praying for our Leadership Visioning Meeting that was held on January 23rd. As the elders, board, and staff met, we discussed what needs to be the priorities of the church for the coming year as well as formulating a budget that reflects the new realities facing the church.

It was a positive meeting with many encouraging highlights and most importantly, a unified vision for moving forward. In the coming weeks, the fruits of the meeting will be collected and will be officially presented along with the budget in mid-March.

Kids Connection Survey

The ministry to our kids was one of the topics of discussion at the Leadership Visioning Meeting. We want to deliver an experience that will deepen our kids relationship to Jesus. All this at a time when most children are either tired or bored with any online presentation.

So a survey has been created to help us know how we can best fulfil our mission at this time. If you are a parent or have a role in Kids Connection please take the time to fill out the survey and help us find the best way to help you and your family.

Like and Share

Thanks to those of you who are not only “liking” the livestreams and social media posts but “sharing” them as well. We continue to see greater traction and views and its an easy way to reach others with the message of the Gospel.

Please continue to share the content and help us reach more people with the hope found in Christ.

Communion

A reminder that our next Communion service will be on February 7th. If you wish to participate we are asking you to have the elements prepared beforehand.

As much as Communion is a spiritual exercise, it is also a visual demonstration of the church body coming together as one. Though we may be separated physically, we still acknowledge the community of believers gathered together to proclaim the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Coming February 14th

If you thought we were going to highlight Valentines Day I am sorry to disappoint you. Though it may be a day to celebrate love, February 14th is also the day we begin a new sermon series on the prophet Elijah.

Starting February 14th

Elijah lived at a time when the world was spinning out of control. He experienced a devastating drought, faced incredible opposition and lived in a nation that was in upheaval. He even struggled with depression. Through it all, Elijah remained a man of deep faith in God, and through his life and experiences, we can learn to manage our present struggles.

Giving that Makes a Difference

Recently, the church received a note from someone who had recently moved back to London and found our church online. The note was a thank-you for how much they were enjoying our services. It was a simple reminder of not only the importance of what we do, but of the lives that are being touched through this ministry.

This is but one example of the ways your contribution helps to fuel the mission of Village Green. From our benevolent outreach, to our missionary partners, to our Sunday services, your financial contributions fund the very ministries that are changing people’s lives. For that, we are truly thankful for your partnership with us.

Here is how you can make a difference:
1. Drop off your offering at the church, either in the mailbox at the front entrance or in the basket when entering a service on Sunday mornings (When physical meetings are allowed).
2. Use the following link to go to the Giving Page on our website, www.villagegreenchurch.com.
3. You can give through e-transfer by going to envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com. please make sure your address is up to date and on file if you use this option.

Just One More Thing…

Whether you are regular part of our church family, or someone who checks in every now and then, you are being prayed for. There are Elders, among many others, who whisper your name before the Lord as part of their daily devotions. There are Life Group leaders who commit their time in prayer for those in their groups. The list goes on and on. Know this, at some point in this wild and crazy season we find ourselves in, someone has prayed and upheld you before the Lord. We may not be talking to one another on a regular basis, but many in this church are talking to the Lord daily.

I bring this up to you as a reminder that you are important to us. We are here to serve you and help you in your daily walk of faith. Should you have specific prayer needs, or want to know more about a ministry here, or how to join a Life Group, you can contact the office at office@villagegreenchurch.com. We need each other.

As I close out this weeks blog, I want to remind you of a blessing that comes out of Numbers 6:24-26, known as the Levitical blessing. God said that when the priests would use this blessing on the people, the Lord himself would bless them too.

May the LORD bless you and protect you.
May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.

My favourite version of this blessing in song is the one that churches in the United Kingdom did in the early days of the pandemic. If you want to be inspired anew here is the link The UK Blessing

Until next time, may you stay safe and healthy.
