Our History
Our Roots
Village Green Community Church (“VG”) began as a FEBC plant back in the 60’s supported by families moving from Glen Cairn and Wortley.
We began building the present structure in the 80’s after much prayer and desire to see our building be used to engage the local community. Thus an agreement to lease part of the building with the London Public Library. The lease ended 25 years later as the needs of the Library changed and our mission and vision changed too.
In November of 2020, Village Green Community Church celebrated their 50th Anniversary of ministry! As part of the celebration, a compilation of memories and pictures were gathered together to produce a History of Village Green document. Our Growth
VG has been and continues to be a church that strives to be committed to strong teaching of the Bible and its relevance for our culture. We have always had an emphasis on prayer and sermon based small groups as a way to grow closer to Jesus, to one another and to serve within our church and our local community. We believe this also provides the opportunity to use our resources to support local and global missions and reach the world with the love and hope of Jesus.
Although our way of “doing church” has changed over the years we have never drifted from the hope and vision we believe Jesus has given us as a local church. We continue to be dependent on the Holy Spirit for our direction and growth. As a result, we have seen many lives impacted and changed within our community and around the world!
