Village Green April 2 Update

Village Green April 2 Update

This Sunday is Palm Sunday with Easter just around the corner. These are significant days but recognize they will be celebrated differently than normal this year.

What isn’t different is the meaning of the Easter season. That Gods love through the death and resurrection of Jesus was given so that through faith, we can live lives free from the guilt of sin and shame. The apostle Peter writes:

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

This Easter season, remember:

  • God’s deep, redeeming, and abiding love for you and your family.
  • God is present in the midst of the difficulties and longs to hear from you.
  • That you are part of a church family that loves you too!

Important Reminders

April 5th and Start of Life Groups

April 5th is Palm Sunday and the start of a new Easter series, And He Shall be Called, which runs through Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The first Sunday of the month is when we normally have Communion, but we are deferring it to the Good Friday service (see below).

Our Life Groups begin this week as well and we are encouraging our leaders to prepare their group for meeting and studying online. The study material will be posted online as per usual.

Good Friday (April 10th)

The live stream of the Good Friday service will begin at the usual 10:00 am start time. We will be serving Communion at this service and we are asking those who want to participate to prepare bread and juice for your family at home.

A New Way to Give

We are also introducing e-transfers. You can now use envelopes@villagegreenchurch.com to make e-transfers to the church.

Two Announcements

One of the benefits of our present situation is the potential of our live stream to reach people who are unable or unwilling to attend church. I’ve had a number of people tell me that it is much easier to invite people to view online than it is to invite them to a building. We are actually experiencing new people on our live stream who do not regularly attend a church, if at all.

This Easter season, why not reach out and invite someone new to view online? Also, if you are not part of a formal Life Group, why not commit to downloading the study notes and following along each Sunday? Why not invite a partner and study together? One last note: some do not have access to the internet or mobile devices in order to stay connected to the services. If you know of people in this situation maybe there is a way of helping them. It’s going to take some creativity, but it may be just another way of serving during this difficult time.

The second bit of news involves a new study. Beginning Monday April 13th, at 8:00 pm, I will be doing a Facebook Live study on How to Read and Understand the Bible. Just connect to my Facebook page at, Facebook.com/jkorkidakis to be part of this study. I’m going to have study material available as well.

If you’ve ever wondered about the following:

  • How to understand the big picture of the Bible better,
  • How it came into existence,
  • How its all connected,
  • How to understand and interpret the different genres,
  • How to apply it to your life in meaningful ways.

Those are just a few of the benefits you will get from this engaging deep dive into the Scriptures. My intention is to keep the study within 30 minutes and pour as much into that time as possible. Hope you are able to join us.

Remember, you are loved!
