Immeasurably More – Our Focus for 2016-17

Immeasurably More – Our Focus for 2016-17

On Sunday February 28th, 2016, we gathered as a church to celebrate the completion of our new addition. It was wonderful to be able to dedicate this new space as a continuing expression of our mission and vision for Village Green.

We also introduced our Immeasurably More Campaign. A phrase found in Ephesians 3:20, in which the apostle Paul expresses in doxological form, the fullness of his blessing to the church at Ephesus.

For the many who laboured in faithfulness to bring this project to completion, the gratitude and heartfelt appreciation of the entire congregation be upon you! We could not have celebrated this milestone without you.

But most of all, we are thankful for God’s continued faithfulness. As many can attest, there were times when this project seemed to exasperate us into futility. Yet, despite those moments, God would always show up and make the way clear. A testament to his leading despite what we were feeling at the time.

But all of that is behind us now. The seeds have been sown and now comes the fruit of our labours. As expressed during the service we are continuing to trust in the God of immeasurably more! That this new space will help us to reach out in new and imaginative ways to reach as many as possible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

So, for the year ahead we are focusing on trusting God for more. In light of this we are looking into three strategic areas. They are as follows:

1. Invest

We are a church who is committed to investing in people’s lives. This is a strategic focus on the personal level. Its engaging people to invest themselves in growing their faith deeper in Christ while at the same time investing in the life of another person. Not as a project, but as a person made in the image of God. This two-pronged investment, in yourself and in another, will develop a deeper alignment with God’s heart.

2. Invite

Beyond the core investment we make in ourselves and another, comes the missional focus of our endeavours. As our lives become more richly reflective of Christ’s they in turn become an open invitation for others to follow. To truly express the heart of God is to truly see others as objects of his love. No invitation is more compelling than one expressed through the lens of Christ’s sacrificial love for the world.

3. Inspire

The church, love it or hate it, is the vehicle in which Christ entrusts his people to express his mission. The church, for all its flaws, should be the most inspirational place on the planet. Regardless of life situation or circumstance, it should install hope and lift everyone who enters its doors to feel renewed and restored. Imagine a church where transformational living is experienced in all its fulness!

I hope you are excited for the year ahead, a year of investing, inviting, and inspiring one another in ways that asks God for immeasurably more! We are a church with a rich history spanning over 40 years, all of which have seen the faithfulness of God in every season it has experienced. Yet I am believing that this could be Village Green’s best year yet!

With that in mind, I want to remind you of an opportunity coming up this Easter. As part of our Immeasurably More Campaign we are taking a special offering on Easter Sunday that will go directly to pay down the debt of our new addition.

Take time to pray and ask God what should be your part in this special initiative. Giving is always a tension-filled area, but we want to minimize the debt we are carrying into the future. So, thank you for taking time to read this post, and for your faithful service and commitment to Village Green.

In Christ;

Jon Korkidakis
